After viewing numerous 3 Cushion Tapes and pictures, plus reading articles.
This question flounder me . What postion do you put your Rubber Sleeve on your cue butt? I know the sleeve help the grip, balance, and weight. But where do you feel the most comfortable placing your sleeve and why?
Which type do you use?
Maybe either at the SL INTERNATIONAL or USBA NATIONAL a survey could be done and post or published in "Professorqball" as were done on tips and gloves.

I use a rubber grip and I place it so that the front edge is right at the balance point. This leaves about four inches of bare wood at the butt end. I put it there because that's the range in which I almost always grip the cue. Most pros seem to prefer placing it all the way down to the butt end, but I don't know why. The grips I've tried come in several different thicknesses and I prefer the middle of the thickness scale -- I don't like the really thick ones at all. The brand I like best is Korean: IBS. In Soo Park sells them.

If you're at Q-Masters this Friday or Sat ask for Dave Palmer. I'll be on the billiard table in the afternoon.

Depend how pack Qmaster is this weekend with the Tournament. Are you local ,or just there for the Tournament?

My current grip is 11", and it's 1" above the butt end. It's made by Cyclone, but there are several companies that make essentially the same thing. I've used IBS before, but the last one I had kept turning my hand black after playing.

As With Mark, I prefer the medium of the three typical textures/thicknesses.

Basically, I put it anywhere my hand might need to grip the cue for a shot. For me, that means almost all the way down to the butt end because I like to grip farther back with a longer bridge for power shots. For the lag, I actually grip the wood above the grip so my pinky just grazes the top of it for reference. When I've used a longer grip in the past, I put it down at the butt end in the same place, but let it extend up the cue far enough for my "lag" grip. Other players seem to cut it down so it only covers a very small portion of the grip area.

For many years, I also played with a rubber band at a certain point in the middle of the grip as a another reference point that didn't interfere with stroking.

The glove I don't know.
If you watch any of the Korean four ball videos . you will see one player using only two single finger tube, eye catching too ,since they were yellow, red, and green strips.
Hope this help

BTW I use Tan Gum Rubber, that Dieckman sent with my carom cues, but I'm still looking for a comfort postion. Watch your fingernail, as they will tear the sleeve. Which happen with the ones I brought from Mueller.
