Replace the pin. It will be cheaper and easier.
Swapping out a pin isn't as easy as some would have you believe.
The cue doesn't need to be put thru that over a thrd clean-up.
5 minutes with a 3-sided file will save you a lot of grief.
Your own effort costs you nothing.

If the damage is very near the joint collar, good luck keeping it undamaged.
I have some incredibly fine needle files that are very hard. They are perfect for cleaning threads up
