Where to get Hole -Thru Rubber bumpers

I just modify my standard bumper when I am asked to make an extension for one of my cues. Rubber gets really hard when it's really cold.

Alan,
Phelps Custom Cues

These are what I got off fleabay . They are 1"x1" and the hole is 3/8 reducing to 1/8 . These are a harder rubber that is easily machined , sanded , cut , drilled or shaped . I put one in my chuck and cranked down , it has memory , but feel almost hard as a rock , when recessed they shouldn't explode a butt cap. I think without some sort of insert they would have to be glued in and your male connection bolt for attaching extension would pass through and thread into butt , same thread as your weight bolt .Down side, would have to send back to cue maker to replace bumper . As easy as they are to machine you could bore the old one out and glue a new in, easy peasy ... Either this or spend a ton on the MEZZ setup , and hope you can get replacement parts . ;) P1070934.jpg

I didn't make them then and don't make them now, but It was kind of a special case, and I made a double extension one time that was really long, and didn't want the flex of the rubber between the extension, and butt of the cue, so I used a uni-loc pin in the extension, insert in the end of the butt. For the bumper I cut a jump pin down, mounted it in the rubber bumper, so basically You just screwed the bumper off with a couple of turns then screwed the extension on. I think with the type of bumper shown, I could have just bored a recess in the extension face to except the back of the bumper and still achieved enough face to face contact between the end of the butt and front of the extension to keep Me satisfied though.
