Where to play in Austin

In Austin working. Hopefully get some time to play a few games. Wondering where you would suggest going. Would like it more pool oriented than night life oriented. Thanks for the input!!

Clicks on Oltorf is a good pool hall, and close by. Decent 8' tables with Simonis and three 9' GCs. Take Ben White Blvd (Hwy 71) into Austin, take the ramp onto IH-35 north, but exit immediately. Take a right at the next light (Oltorf), and Clicks will be about 1/2 mile on your right, in a small shopping center.

If you have more time, I'd definitely suggest visiting Skinny Bobs in Round Rock (North Austin). Very nice pool hall with 14 9' GCs and a 10' 3-Cushion table.

If you are near downtown, there is Buffalo Billiards. It's on 6th street. Has more of a causal player atmosphere. I've enjoyed going there with people from our Austin office, having a few beers and playing some casual games. Has some video games and shuffleboard. Large bar. Has lots of tables. But the house cues are garbage. Flat tips and a million divots on the shaft of every cue. When I travel to Austin and plan to play there, I don't have my cue but I pack a tip shaper.

Are there real players to be found (and played) in one or both of these? Which one's better for that? I find myself in Austin from time to time, so I'm curious.

I can't speak as much for Clicks as I am only there one night a week for league but there are some strong players there that night There are more than a few master/grand master players at Skinny Bob's on a regular basis.

Thanks. Next time I'm in Austin I might try to sneak away from the family one night and find out what kind of trouble I can get into.

Take the short drive to round rock and play at skinny bobs. They host the Texas open each year and it is a pool players pool room. Good atmosphere and there's always someone looking for action
