i'm leaving for bejing next week and will be there for 5 weeks. need to keep up my daily practice/play...anyone know the best place to go? i also understand it only costs about $3 or $4/hour to play but do not know if that is a 8ft or 9 ft table. (9 ft is my preference) any "customs" i should know about? not taking my cue so it will have to be a house cue! :frown:

9 foot tables are quite easy to find anywhere in China, pool is hot stuff here.

Be prepared to pay like $ 6-8/hr for a decent pool hall, I do not know Beijing in particular, but i pay between $6-$10 in Shanghai, and an average of $6 in other major cities.

Practicing with a house cue sounds bad..lol...for 5 weeks maybe you should consider buying a cheap cue, u can get a decent cue well below $100 here and sell it when you leave.

I cant name a place now but i do have lots of pool connections in beijing and ill get back to you with some cool places later

Also I cannot think of anything special you should be paying attention, probably keep an eye on your wallet when you are on the streets in rush hours lol...people here are nice, have fun and enjoy! I might be visiting beijing in Oct maybe we can do some straight pool then(sadly ppl dont play 14.1 here)

The palace guards have an outdoor 9 footer you could bang some around on at the Forbidden Palace. It's right after you go in the entrance under Mao's picture!

Play pool by all means but be sure to climb the Great Wall near Beijing. It is a "Don't Miss" experience.

This is true. I was there and snapped this picture of the guards playing.

Hey old player I sent you a PM but cant find it, Ima not familiar with the PM system here so i'll just post here to make sure you read this:
The place you are visiting to is in Fengtai District, 10 miles/half hour from city center.
The place has a website in English :http://www.unistemcells.com/

Should you choose to live in Feng Tai,here are some pool hall recommendations: I added the Chinese names so cab driver can take you to those places:

You Tsing Sui Yue Pool Club /友情岁月台球俱乐部(Friendship pool club):
Address in Chinese:北京市丰台区望园东路小井润园小区东门对面

Also Ding Junhui the snooker player has a pool hall, ask any local they should be able to guide you there since Ding is famous
DingJunhui Billiard Club ,Feng tai
No.4 Ni Wa Road, Fengtai Dist.

Another one that looks good:
Special Angle Pool Club (Fei Chang Jiao Du Pool Club)
Add:丰台区草桥恋日嘉园生活广场三层 3.rd Floor of Ri Jia Yuan Square.

Hope this helps!

thank you "Tzytnt" for the info. the website is where my wife is going to be treated. thee for 5 weeks. however, at $15/hour or even close to that is out of the question. guess i may have to go to the place first and ask about prices. at worst, i'll wait and practice at marietta billiard club in marietta ga when i return (albit, a little rusty)

That's the price for the VIP room! So don't worry about it
Other places should be around $5 an hour, it can be really cheap weekdays.

Good luck with the treatment! If you have any more questions just PM me
