Where to play in Florida?

I am traveling to FL for the holiday to see the family and all that jazz. I will be in Tampa and also spending some tim in Orlando. Where are some good places to play? When in Orlando I usually hit Clicks cuz that is where I played when I was in college, but what is good in the Tampa area? Also, O've never flown with my cues before, is that carry-on luggage?

BUDDHA, I SPENT A WEEK IN THE TAMPA AREA TWO WINTERS AGO....I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR IN A POOL ROOM, BUT HERE'S YOUR THREE CHOICES, AS FAR AS I DISCOVERED: PLANET 9BALL FOR AN ALL AROUND NICE ROOM - BIG, FRIENDLY, WITH DECENT EQUIPMENT, BUT NOT MUCH ACTION >>> FATSO'S IS THE ACTION POOLROOM - THE ROOM AND THE EQUIPMENT ARE NOTHING SPECIAL, AND AS FOR THE 'ACTION', UNFORTUNATELY IT'S THE KIND OF ACTION WHERE GUYS WHO COULD DEFINITELY PLAY YOU EVEN, WILL WATCH YOU FOR TWO DAYS AND THEN ASK YOU FOR THE SEVEN, OR 9 TO 7 IN ONE POCKET >>> AND FOR AN OLD TIME, HISTORIC POOLROOM, DON'T MISS BAKERS POOLROOM IN DOWNTOWN TAMPA, A SMALL ROOM WITH TONS OF TIME-GONE-BY ATMOSPHERE, AN OLD FASHIONED LUNCH COUNTER AND GREAT OLD MURALS PAINTED ON THE WALLS - NOT MUCH ACTION ANYMORE, BUT I HEAR BACK IN THE DAY, THERE WAS A LOT.

Hey Ghost, Fatso's sounds like most of
the poolrooms in Daytona. Talk about
cautious players! The only action I get
is tournaments. Nits!

When in Orlando, stop by Pro Billiards - lotsa good players if you’re looking for action. There are too many rooms to list besides Clicks.

I recently paid a visit to Planet 9 Ball in Tampa, nice place with many tables. And on the same road about three miles away is Poppy’s Billiards (I didn’t get a chance to check this room out, though).

Sorry I missed you (or, WAS I there ?). When did you come by ?

I asked for you by name (Doug, right?) each time I was there, Mon., Wed., and Thurs. between 7 and 9 pm. but unfortunately, I missed out. They said you normally come in on Sunday during the day. From your other posts I new that IF you showed up it’d be in the morning. I took a chance that maybe you’d be there one of those nights. Sorry I couldn’t arrange any morning time. Our hospital accommodations didn’t allow for much free time though. So, it’ll have to be some other time.

Rick

PS – Our son’s heart surgery went very well, hope yours does too.

Did you play in the Thursday night $10 open tournament ? That's GREAT news about your son,who was/is his surgeon ?

No, I didn’t play in the tourney. Didn’t even think to ask about it. On Mon and Wed it looked like league play. On Thurs I just assumed it was the same thing, although I would have liked to. I played on table two and on tables one and three (I guess) seamed to have league 8 ball going on. But in the center, a group of 6 – 8 tables had 9 ball being played. I guess this area was for the tourney action.

So, which table do you normally play on? I saw a couple of Diamonds and a Gabriel (covered) that I would have loved to play on.

Dr. Morell was the surgeon. And if you can pass yourself off as a big kid, he might see you.

The tables in the middle, were indeed the $10 tournament.
I've been playing exclusively on the Gabriel's table and I like it.
I am a big kid at heart,I'm just old for my age... imo
