CJ pretty much hung it up after the tour he & a few others tried to create didn't pan out. (I was out of the pool loop at that time but thats the story as I understand it. If I'm wrong, I trust that someone will correct me)
CJ had a big pool room in Dallas already and he opened another room which has since turned into a night club with a small pool room glassed in.
With the IPT paying big bucks, CJ has decided to once again try his hand at pool. He most certainly had the game to make it onto the IPT but taking so many yrs off of pool makes it extremely difficult to get back to where you were. CJ was really good and he's still good...just not as good.
He's played in a few of the qualifiers but just doesn't have what it takes to get there quite yet. I would imagine that if he takes it seriously, starts playing, & practicing, he won't have a problem making it onto the tour next year.
He's also going to be opening a 3rd place in the Dallas area. I spoke to him for just a few min at the DCC so I don't have the details but I do know that he has become pretty sucessful with the places that he owns.
I like the part in Danny DiLiberto's book where is matching up with CJ Wiley and apparently beating him.
I forget right off hand what happens but CJ gets mad and starts pumping himself up telling Danny, "I like pain....I like pain." (as if he is getting ready to start a fight with Danny).
Danny D. cooly replies, "Good, because I like giving it!"
