hi linda, about the mental side, of being nervous in front of the tv cameras, and thousands in the auidence, i never did that before as well, and yes, it would seem to us NON-pros, we could lose our minds in front of everyone! however, here is my plan to combat that. PLAY POOL! we waited our entire lifes for this opportunity, right? RIGHT! so, let's not get involved with the cameras, media, interviews, and right ups, let's focus at the task at hand, playing pool! the mind can NOT i repeat can NOT concentrate on two things at once, so with that thought, think of this, either your concentrating on your game like a demon, or your mind is somewhere else, i'm hoping my mind is on the game, and only the game, sort of like when you see in the movies, when somesones on the ledge of a building and their told "don't look down" well, that's like us, look at the table, and the situation at hand, hope this helps.

Thanks Bernie. Unfortunately, I'm one of those people who will always look down! :( I am trying to work on the task at hand, just playing pool. We'll see. For all you other IPT members selected, can I get your real names so that I can reference my list? Thanks!

Like Tammie, I want to lose some poundage and get ready for grueling long races.

You look pretty darn hot in your photo, I don't think you need to change anything. ;)

You're sweet to say so. :o I won't be shooting looking like that, I leave that to the Jeanettes and Jennifers of the world, who look absolutely amazing. I had to load on a program to resize my picture and enlarge it. It is one of four I submitted for the IPT program.

Thought you might like this one. I put it up and a couple others in the thread of the photo album that Girlwon1 started. It was taken when I took 2nd in VNEA. I am also putting together an album of pool buddies and family. I will post it when finished. I hope to meet all you AZ posters in Orlando!

Sorry, you shouldn't be having those thoughts. I'm married (he's on the IPT tour too) to Mike Zimmerman, and I am OLD, old enough to be your mother. I am posting a new thread with my photo album I created. Go have a look and a laugh.

Linda Do you two shoot at PC's Pub on Fridays?

No, where is that? We shoot at Mike's Place in Renton unless we are out of town. Get there early though, they are filled up by 7:30!

PS - Are you the Riley that got picked for IPT? If so, PM me.

Linda

Tammie Wesley Jones is a friend of mine and a Great 8-ball player. Like she said, she's been playing on bar tables for the past several years. But trust me, she's a great shot maker, a great position player, and she knows how to play the patterns.
Good luck to all the A-Zer's and especially you Tammie.

Thanks Sam!!! I look forward to our practice tomorrow. I just hope you don't break me down too bad. It's good to get to play again.

Hi Rude Dog,
I was fortunate enough to have been selected.

I'm a little weary to raise my hand as I don't want to be the target of arguments about worthiness or abilities.

Now I have an opportunity, I want to focus on preparing with enthusiam...so I want to keep out of arguments, but more than happy to share my experiences with members here.

I haven't played with dedicated practice for a few years but I can usually lift myself to near peak form with about a week or two playing a few hours a day.

A have about 3.5 months to prepare for the Jan 31st event. I am arraninging to a secure a practice table so I can begin a regular 2-3 hours morning session. In the mean time I am doing a lot of cueing drills to straighten, strengthen and smoothen my stroke. I plan to swing the cue about 5-10,000 times each handed each day.

Once onto the table I will begin a series of progressive potting drills from 10 to 80 degrees at various distances with varied english. This is to enhance memorization of potting angles.

I will progress to more and more match situations as my potting sharpens so I can more quickly calculate picking run-out plans.

Anyway, that's about where I am for now.

I just want to prepare myself best I can and try to enjoy myself at the table in practice and the competition.

Hey Colin!!! Congrats!!! At first I thought u were only joking about being selected, then i looked at the players list, and there you are! Wow!! What a great achievement thus far!! That's great! very happy for you and will be rooting you on...
