Which butt for Revo? Throne vs. Roadline vs. P3 vs SP2

Hi,

I am into buying a revo shaft but I can't decide which butt from predator I should take.

Models available are Roadline LE 5/6, SP2, P3 and Throne. Except the Roadline all butts come with UniLock Quick Lock. The Roadline LE comes with Radial Pin.

Prices here in germany are like the following:
  1. SP2 + Revo = $1020
  2. Roadline LE + Revo = $1135
  3. P3 + Revo = $1420
  4. Throne 2-1 = $1450

Is it worth spending the extra money and get the Throne or should I save the money and get the Roadline?

I want a solid hit and good feedback. Which cue would you choose? How much does the join type effect the feedback between this specific models?

Get it from America, it's gonna be much cheaper. 1000+ for the SP is ridiculous, it's half price in the US. The joint won't matter much, but radial gives you more options to use with other shafts and for resale.

I guess we are talking about different cues. I meant the "REVO SP2 REVO 02" which was a limited edition. Just looked up the prices from billard warehouse: even if the cues are about 20% to 25% cheaper in the usa, I have to pay for shipping and about 23% customs duties here in germany.

Can't comment on SP2 as I have not tried one.

The bar for what makes a solid hit and gives good feedback is subjective, but I think it's safe to generalise that most people will enjoy the hit and feedback on the older radial pin Roadlines, then followed by some of the special edition cues made by other cue companies, then the regular Uniloc Roadlines.

With the P3s and Thrones, I find that it's pretty much hit and miss. They can either feel 'soft' or 'pingy' depending on the luck of the draw. Not to say that it detracts from the performance of the shaft, but preferences are preferences nonetheless.

Hope this helps a bit and good luck with your search.

Those butts are so different in looks, I would think that would be the main consideration. Roadline: classic and understated, Throne: rich and expensive-looking, etc.

I bought a second hand roadline with Z3 and a BK2 for $500.

Will mate the Roadline up with a Revo when I run across one for the right price.

Had a Revo 12.9 Radial I used on a Diveney for awhile but ended up selling it when they began fetching a premium. LOL

I think the Revo would look great with the Roadline.

I like my Roadline on the right,

Giving the the options I would go with the roadline5.

To me, ebony in forearm and handle is a must-have.

I bought the roadline5 and had it drilled out a bit to make it more forward balanced.

I absolutely love it. I have owned really high-end custom cues and not a one of them plays better than this cue.

I've owned only one cue that was equal and it cost over 9k at the time of purchase and sold for a bit more later. However, I lost money on every other custom I had.

Sold them all at same time to a dealer.

Ouch....

Yep, roadline5 gets my vote.

Roadline LE (3, 4, & 6) all the way
I'm not a fan of the black painted maple Predator used on the thrones or the roadline #5. I use a vantage shaft on my roadline LE6 and it shoots great with nice feedback!!

Yes, I meant SP = Sneaky Pete = Roadline.

Assuming you want the lowest price, some Roadlines sell for $479, and the Revo is a $124 upgrade I think, so around 600 in total. There are ways to avoid paying customs fees

I've owned all 4 versions you have listed. I really enjoy the longated wrap on the SP2 the most. Only reason I got rid of the roadline was because I prefer a wrap over wrapless. The p3's are nice as well but I sold it die to monetary issues at the time. Ended up not being a fan of the throne series because of the ss joint.

Not that it matters much to your question but my current lineup that leaves the house with me on league night is Maestro with 12.4 revo(radial) my main shooter and the SP2Revo5 12.4 as my backup and the new blue edition sport 2 with sportswrap and bkrush shaft as my breaker.

I've had about 12 variations of butts and Revo shafts total and the unilock and radial are very similar in hit. Only difference for me is that the radial gets a little more action of the cueball.

A solid hit and good feedback isn't what I think about when someone mentions Predator at all, but be that as it may...
I've tried a ton of Predator and Lucasi cues and most hit very similar, regardeless of how they look on the outside.
But if feel and feedback is important to you and you want a Predator cue, the new Roadline LE6 stands out from all the ones I've tried. Wrapless always gives the most feedback.

Flip a coin and experiment. I have tried the REVO on various butts and enjoyed all of them. Even tried it on a Schmelke and liked it.
The beauty of any late model Predator butt is the weight can be adjusted...it changes the feel. Also I use a mid extension (from Newsheriffintown) and that changes the feel.
Currently playing with a REVO on an iKon 2-1.

Thanks for your replies thus far.
Seems like most of you prefer the Roadline. Hit or miss is nothing I will going to try speaking about a 1k cue, so the Throne is out of the game.
If the roadline or ikon is the better option I will go for it.

are there some more opinions on the cue and maybe the question quick lock vs radial pin.

I do have the throne 2-1 with a revo 12.9 and love it. just not a fan of the victory tip so will change it to kamui after the tip is done.

Thanks for your replies.
I just can't decide which cue I should buy.

The LE Roadline is cheap and has a radial pin which I guess is better than QuickLock. Only the red LE6 modell which I don't like is available.

On the other hand there are Throne and Ikon which have QuickLock and are more on the expensiv side. Even deciding between those two models is tough because I didn't played them.
Is there someone else who can compare the mentioned cues?

To be honest, if it`s Uni-Loc or Radial doesn`t really matter, your focusing on stupid details instead of playing pool.

Blasphemy!

I heard the pin was the most important part, and if was made of diamond it would make you the best player on the planet.
