Which butt for Revo? Throne vs. Roadline vs. P3 vs SP2

Thanks for your replies.
I just can't decide which cue I should buy.

The LE Roadline is cheap and has a radial pin which I guess is better than QuickLock. Only the red LE6 modell which I don't like is available.

On the other hand there are Throne and Ikon which have QuickLock and are more on the expensiv side. Even deciding between those two models is tough because I didn't played them.
Is there someone else who can compare the mentioned cues?
Honest opinion? I think Predator butts are way overpriced for the quality.

Hi,

I am into buying a revo shaft but I can't decide which butt from predator I should take.

Models available are Roadline LE 5/6, SP2, P3 and Throne. Except the Roadline all butts come with UniLock Quick Lock. The Roadline LE comes with Radial Pin.

Prices here in germany are like the following:
  1. SP2 + Revo = $1020
  2. Roadline LE + Revo = $1135
  3. P3 + Revo = $1420
  4. Throne 2-1 = $1450

Is it worth spending the extra money and get the Throne or should I save the money and get the Roadline?

I want a solid hit and good feedback. Which cue would you choose? How much does the join type effect the feedback between this specific models?
Get whichever costs more, it'll play better!

I played with a bunch of different combinations of cues with Revo shafts not long ago, including my own custom full splice cue. My son recently bought a full Ikon cue with a Revro and uni-lock pin, my cue has a radial. I liked the hit on the full splice radial more than the Ikon hit, but surprisingly not by that much.

I am not a fan of Predator cues, but I have to admit that the cue my son got and the Revo shaft play well and have a good feel. You should be OK with whatever combination you pick based on looks and price.

as mentioned previously and by other posters, u don't go to predator expecting solid hit and good feedback –*you are just setting yourself up for disappointment.

If you want to buy a Revo, it will be for the properties that Revo offers – that's your priority, as opposed to the hit and feedback.

(on a side note, do not be hasty in dismissing quick release joints as definitely having a worse feel. Kerry Zeiler used to use uni-loc quick release on his cues, and he was a stickler for feel. there are far many more factors involved.)

Also, have you tried a Revo on any predator butt yet? Do you like the hit? Not everyone likes the hit of carbon fiber shafts, especially those who appreciate great cues with solid hit and feedback. it's just very different.

What i can share is the construction of the ikon and the throne are similar. the main difference, if you can discern it, mostly come from the forearms – e.g. maple vs coco/ebony. But seriously, unless u get to try the piece before you buy, its just a lottery.

bottom line, both ikon and throne are almost the same, so dont think too much about it.

I agree with Kim Bye to go with the roadline if Hit + Predator is what you want. if you cant get over its looks, then get any of the ikons or thrones that you fancy.

once you spend enough time with the cue and focus on improving your game, a lot of things that you thought was important like hit, feel, pin etc all become inconsequential. people only complain about these things when they cant make a ball.

If you are going v with uniloc for sure go with the SP2. The longer wrap is way better imo.

If you don't mind spending extra money on a radial pin cue, the maestro series and the mosconi series are both radial.
