which conical wood shaft? Z3 or WX900?

just a quick update for anyone interested

I now have both in 30" radial configuration,
the Z3 seems solid while the Mezz lighter and almost hollow like, the nature of laminated vs non laminated I guess

Z3 has a slicker finish, Mezz appears almost bare

I have not yet tried the Mezz, I want to switch to Kamui black hard for an apples to apples comparison

A couple sessions in with the Z3, this appears to be an outstanding shaft, best of any wood shaft laminated or otherwise I've ever tried and I've tried a bunch, previously I had that title reserved for the Tiger Carom X pro

hits solid, not pingy, construction appears quality

I'll need to get used to the smaller diameter

At the moment I still think the best carbon shafts are better, but not for everyone

finished a session with the Mezz, excellent shaft

biggest difference for me is cue ball spin, appears to impart more with less effort, this is huge for me

alot of this is personal preference, I prefer the 12mm diameter
taper is not conical, if the z3 is 50/50 hybrid this is more 75% conical 25% pro mix

i like the bare finish over whatever they coated the z3 with

i never test deflection

hits solid

if you polled 100 people I wouldn't be surprised if preferences were split down the middle

something of note, can't really put my finger on it but it appears of "cheaper" quality, the drilled thread for the radial connector
appears too tight and perhaps drilled haphazardly, perhaps the lighter weight (have not weighed them) and the fact it may be a tad more whippy

for the time being this one will remain as my main player

will be interesting to see what Mezz has next, they seem about due for newer models,
I suspect the "core carbon outer wood" to be the next big thing

they've done that a while in a way. my hybrid pro(first version) has a cf rod inside. i think the ExPro still has this.

Well discontinuing doesn't automatically mean zero stock. Not seeing them listed on the Mezz home site is enough for me not to risk it.

I ordered a wx900 from MezzUSA and had it within 48hrs. Best international shipment I have ever received.
