I have always used mainly thumb and pointer finger, but then I watched the Break and Run DVD's and Rodney Morris says to just use your middle fingers, ring finger and thumb to grip the cue.

Two Fingers = One Thumb...

For 90% of level, normal shots, I use my thumb, index finger and middle finger, dangling my ring finger and pinkie. For elevated shots, I use my thumb, middle finger and ring finger, dangling the index and pinkie. I always keep it two fingers and one thumb, to equalize any pressure on both sides of the cue. It depends on the mechanics of your stroke hand/arm which fingers work best for keeping your stroke its straightest.

I use the middle and ring finger and my thumb: the "two finger carry."

A second benefit to the ring and middle finger grip

I use the side of the thumb joint - palm - middle and ring finger grip and have found that a second benefit is that I leave my thumb and forefinger off the cue and pointed at the floor. If my thumb and forefinger are parallel and pointed at the floor it means my wrist is in the correct position.

If I start struggling it is often due to me wrapping my wrist where my thumb and forefinger point towards my right knee instead of the floor

The thumb and forefinger alignment has become part of my pre shot and helps me quite a bit

I use the back grip...last three fingers.
I played golf first so I think my grip came from holding a golf club.

But on certain hits, my hand goes to thumb and index finger, especially
when playing 3-cushion.

I feel that no matter how you pick up the cue, you shouldn't control
your hand...let it react like it has to.

Control the cue...not your hand.

How can anyone actually play after thinking of all this shit?

Stroke first. Pointless fiddling at the margins later.

Well sometimes my wrist isn't lose enough and this causes me to not be able to spin whitey. So it's kind of an issue to me and using different fingers will help loosen wrist.

There is no single right way. No problem with discussing it though, I think it's a good thing to share information. One might even learn something new.

Why isn't your wrist loose? Is it a medical thing?

Because sometimes my grip is too tight. And using less fingers I think will greatly loosen the wrist, that's why I asked other people on here.

I believe efren, busty and alot of the other Phillipino players use only thumb and pointer finger.

Third and forth fingers and thumb, my little finger never touches the cue and my pointer just a very little. I also hold the cue in sort of a V with my thumb and pointer finger pointing down. I stole this from Miz like 30 years ago and never went to anything else since.
