Which is the ferrule and which is the pad?

Hi cuemakers,

Just received a shaft and i'm told that the white portion is the ferrule while the black and red parts are the pads (pads are installed under the ferrule)
IMO, it looks like the black IS the ferrule (vaultplate) with the insert into the shaft while the red and white parts are thin and thick pads respectively

Anyone able to shed some light on this so that I can learn more about shaft construction?

Nonetheless, looking forward to hitting a few balls with this and doing a basic comparison with the revo, cynergy and awens cf shaft

Thank you

Gotta be, unless the black/red are rings

You are possibly correct in your assumption, but there's no way to know for sure unless you talk to whoever made it, or deconstruct it. The white part could easily be the ferrule, and the red/black could be rings.

Normally the part closest to the shaft would be called the ferrule. Or vault as you called it. I don't want to use Predators terminology.
If the black and red have a hole in them and the white has a stem going thru them and into the shaft, then the white would be the ferrule. But without knowing
Black is the ferrule
Red is a fiber pad
White is a spacer just for sighting easier.

I see, the person I bought this is adamant that the black and red are spacers and the white part is the ferrule but didn't mention if the pads are drilled through or not.

Oh, wasn't aware that vault is a predator terminology 😅
Yea black ferrule, red fibre pad and white spacer were my thoughts too

Not the word itself but how they use and advertise it in thier shafts.

Hi Larry
A c/f pad and the silencer are not the same.
thanks michael.... (y)
when i reread your post #4 saying this
Black is the ferrule
Red is a fiber pad
White is a spacer just for sighting easier.
i figured the silencer was the fiber pad so i deleted my post

Just for clarification.
The silencer and fiber pads are different materials.

good morning michael
had my coffee ...:coffee: :D (y)
in this picture from predator
the end of the revo shaft has a "vault plate"/"v-tek silencer"/ then the tip
there is no "fiber pad"
michael from your pics above and comments i understand that the silencer and fiber pad are NOT the same
but if the silencer needs to be replaced can a fiber pad be used in its place?

Hi Larry
The fiber pad has been used by some as a replacement for the silencer.
The problem is
It voids the warranty
It doesn't hit the same
And last
People are not being told the above.
Pretty important info.
