The preference one has for which league they prefer is also related to the area they play in. I currently play both tap and apa in this area the competition is stronger overall in the tap league and the rules are somewhat better such as actual call pocket 8 ball with jump cues allowed. But then they do have this little quirk of call pocket on the 9 in 9 ball which often leads to a call of just in case when they pocket a ball and try a 2 way billiard on the 9. That said the top apa players here could easily be just as competitive in tap.
