Which Shot Do You Prefer?

ok, if you HAD to choose one of these shots to get position on the '6' Ball, which one would you choose and why?

the shot on the '5' Ball is at a small angle. would you choose Route A and hit the shot harder and try and come one rail to Point C? or would you choose a draw shot (Route B), hoping you could juice it back enough to Point C?

please, lets assume those two shots are your only options.
thanks

CueTable Help

Look, Rossman. Just some friendly advice. A lot of people may find your 50,000 posts on layouts and "what would you do" a bit obnoxious.

Eric

PS-glad you finally figured out the CB on the WEI table

It's not Tom Rossman, he's just a guy who has taken some lessons from him!

P.S. I'd go to the rail and back out.

Route B. Shoot the 5 with Low-Right so its thrown in the pocket and draw back for the 6.

I would take it to the rail and back out again. That is the natural path of the ball. That draw shot looks easy, but I also thank it is easy to come up behind the blocking ball.

I've alreay been blasted for saying the same, and to top it off, Dr.Cuesprotege will type stuff like, "After running a few racks, I missed this shot" And he will illistrate a shot on the WEI, that shows a shot that not only some pros could miss, but that really is obvious to most people what position is better.

Sorry if I'm trying seem like I'm trying to bash someone who is looking for help, as I KNOW that many people have extened themselves countless times to make my billards experience more enjoyable.

If he really is DC's protege and not Rossman using an Internet handle to hide behind, then why doesn't he just ask Dr. Cue all his questions?

I don't mind trying to help someone with a question either, but non-stop posting tends to monopolize a board and as far as Netiquette, it's a little obnoxious.

I've met him at the WPBA event in Peoria so I know for certain it's not Rossman. Good question on the whole "why not ask Rossman" front though!

I just added him to my ignore list. Now his posts just disappear...

well, gee fellas, sorry my posts antagonize people. all i am trying to do is pick the brains of the knowledgeable people on here about what they would do in certain situations.

and just so everyone knows, i have received three (3) private messages in the last two weeks thanking me for posting shots, which initiates discussions on strategies.

and i dont want to bother Tom Rossman, who knows what part of the world he might be in right now.

guess if you dont like the posts, best thing to do is simply ignore.

No thanks, I much rather prefer to complain:mad:

Just kidding with you DR.Cue's Protégé! I am far from offended, and I can't wait until you next post so I can type pretty much the same thing I typed here, like I don't have anything else to do.

Well said. This should make people even more receptive to every passing thought you decide to dump on everyone.

You guys are being jerks.

I like pool. I especially like the aspect of it where I think about shots and try to analyze how to play them. Except for one or two nights a week, I don't have time to actually play pool.

So I come on here and I can speculate about shot choices that come up in a game of pool. I wish every thread was as relevant to the game of pocket billiards as DCP's threads are. They give me a chance to think about, and discuss, POOL.

He bothers some people because a large number of the threads he starts are very similar and he often posts about his extremely negative outlook on his game. If he bothers you, leave the thread alone and let guys like me, who come on here to talk about pool, enjoy the little mental pool puzzles he posts.

If he were Tom Rossman, he'd have been playing long enough not to ask OUR advice. And he doesn't just go straight to Tom with all his questions, because unlike the internet, I imagine he doesn't have constant free access to Rossman's advice.

Anyway, I'd play into the rail and back out, really punching it with just above center right english. With the draw shot you have to be so careful to avoid the blocking ball, controlling your tip placement, stroke, speed, and exactly which part of the pocket you're hitting to, if you want to draw back on that side of the blocker. With the punch shot you just have to make sure you have accurate tip placement and give it plenty of stroke.

I'd usually juice it to the rail and out. A loose stroke at high speed works best for me instead of thinking power, just slap it in.

To those bashing Protege it should be noted that several of his posts lately have drawn way more than 50% incorrect responses from people on this board, imho. At the least incorrect for a lot of table conditions people may encounter.

i think i would draw it back, i believe i could control that better than trying to go over to the rail and back out, the shorter the better works for me.

If that's the case, it would be of great benefit to everyone involved for Dr.Cue'sProtégé to change his screen name.

I've seen people called out here for false advertising.

Just saying

I'll second that. If you take that cut angle literally, it requires a pretty severe wallop to move the cueball that far.
