During a visit to Philadelphia, my host took me to see this amazing mural of Willie Mosconi and Edward “Chick” Davis.

He explained to me that there was still segregation and “Chick” couldn’t go into the white pool rooms but Mosconi could go into the black rooms and they would play together.

Edward “Chick” Davis played super-strong and is heralded among Philadelphia’s black players.
Let us now acknowledge and recognize him for his contributions to Philadelphia’s pool
community and our pool community as a whole.

💡💡History is FILLED with African American legends like this!! MANY, MANY champions that aren't in the books because of the times. I saw a YouTube video of an older Black Man, probably 80 years old now. He said "You ever heard of Cole Dickson, the guy said yeah, "He said HE NEVER BEAT ME!! They brought him all the way out here to California just to lose"

I know-😞
