While shooting a ball off the rail last night

while shooting a ball off of the rail last night I had an idea, what would you guys think about a wedge shaped leather tip that would slide over the existing tip so that you could put a lot of back spin on a ball that was on the rail? Does this sound totally stupid?

I'm (not) from Missouri, you'll have to show me.

I don't think that you can slip one tip over another but....

If you decided to design it as a "rail cue" I'm sure that somebody would build it and market it. :D

Try slipping one of the wedge shaped rubber pencil erasers over your tip and it might give you an idea of whether it's stupid or not. Now you'll have to invent wedge shaped chalk.

Not a bad concept except if it has to slip over the ferrule, that mean it will have a tube larger than the ferrule. Meaning you'll even have less stroking room between the rail and the ball.
Jack up, hit the tip of the cushion a little and go thru it.

I'm sure Corey Dueul can show him how, ala Mosconi Cup 2002 :D

I saw him at the DCC and people were still talking about that shot.

I taught him that shot.
:p

Chuckle/Chuckle

It might be eaier to use an 8mm tip more or less, I would keep in conical when it comes to contacting the cue ball. If the contact point on the tip is not rounded its near impossible to transfer the weight of the cue stick to a specific point on the leather tip, it tends to slide left or right. I tried this for a month just to see, I used a perfectly flat tip on my break cue, never again, when I contacted the cue ball, the tip would slide left or right during contact and semi miscue. So how late were you up last night??? BF

Why not just make a rail cue and better yet, call it a rail wedge cue or even better than that, call it a wedgie :D Lets see, you have your cue with two shafts, break cue, jump cue, rail cue.......I think you need a golf bag. :p

That is on the short list of best shots I have ever seen in my life.

I have several old dufferin two piece cues. Tonight I will go at it with the grinder and see what happens. Just make a V out of the last 3/8 in. including the tip. I will post a picture with results. Just for the hell of it.
Kinda fun, huh!

And I think you need an attitude adjustment! This guy, however ridiculous his idea may be, is looking for some constructive criticism, not a smart a** remark from a dumb a** like you!

Get over it dksap, you can't have a little fun. And who is making the smarter ass'ed remark,? You don't see me calling anyone names on the forum. Your a little to serious. What's really bothering you. If you think I'm being an ass don't stoop. I was also not the one that called his idea "ridiculous"

Corey pushed out to this position. His opponent laughed and gave it back to him. Corey elevated his cue, nailed the 1 and drew back for position on the 2.

Later he said "I've been practicing that shot for 5 years and finally got a chance to use it." :D

I must be missing something. That shot doesn't seem to come even close to other great shots I've seen, including shots from cory. How about cory's push to a one rail kick to sink the 1 with english so that when the cue ball hit the second rail it reversed downtable for perfect shape on the next ball?

I'm also surprised that any opponent playing at that level would give that particular push back instead of playing a safety or an attempt at hitting the shot.

If cory said he practiced that shot for 5 years, he's bullshitting.
