What would be a good white colored material for the joint that's as close to double black linen in characteristics? Sources...

Thanks,

Hadj

Mike,

I haven't yet. I've tried the Ivorine3, MP Ivory and delrin that atlas has... might give aegis a shot if you would recommend it. I assumed I can't find something of the white variety that's close to the black linen.

I used to fashion out joint caps with old aramith cueballs I have :D Hard as a rock. A material close to that would be a great find for me.

Thanks,

hadj

Aegis or melamine. Both are a b :D :D tch to keep clean while finish sanding though.

I heard that if you don't use a smaller tenon for aegis (for joints) that it could crack.

That is the only reason i haven't tried it. I like bigger than standard tenons.

What's the good word?

I don't use the aegis anymore but never had a problem with it cracking and yes can be a royal pain sanding, sucks up dust like a magnet. I use different material now but my joints are more than just a collar.

And i'd bet that there is no way in hell you would elucidate is there?

Could you please expound on the subject matter Mr.Webb? I'm all ears... or better yet just PM me :D

No matter what you choose to use for a joint. Do your homework. Find out the pro's and cons of the material. Don't listen to anyone and run your own experiments. The knowledge will make you a better cuemaker as far as what works for you and the hit of your individual cues. The best person you could ever be a student of once you have good basics, is to be a student of yourself. I have been lucky enough to enjoy some conversations with some excellent new school and old school cuemakers and I have always been stubborn enough to try everything myself, If nothing else, just to satisfy my own curiousity.
