Not to speak for Chris, but phenolic is just a class of plastics based on using a resin with filler. So, yes melamine phenolic is a type of phenolic, as is g10, and a whole slew of other materials.
hi , G10 isn't a phenolic composite but a glass epoxy composite.

phenolic is a resin, a derivative of phenol formaldehyde . So it's not a composite by itself, it's used as matrix in composites called 'phenolic composites' like paper phenolic, linen phenolic, wood phenolic...

G10 , G11, FR4 are composites made with glass and epoxy resin as matrix.

I think I got these pieces from cue components? like i said, years ago. I have a cue in the works that i'm using the white phenolic, and I have some pieces left to last a bit. Just wondering if the name changed, or they stopped making white "phenolic" for some reason, for when i need to order more. So I guess it's a LBM then?

Black looks phenolic.
White is not linen Phenolic.
