White Wolf Drill & Speeds

was thinking about doing the White Wolf Drill that people were talking about on here last week. as i recall this is the drill where you just roll the balls out on the table and pocket them, in no certain order, using all the various cue ball positions:
1) center
2) high
3) low
4) high left
5) left
6) low left
7) high right
8) right
9) low right

i am wondering about the use of speed here. i assume it would be wise to do this 3 times using the different speeds used in a normal game: slow, medium, fast. so, if you pocket all the balls using the above 9 different types of english, with the 3 different types of speed, you've gone through this drill 27 times.

is this what you posters recommend to do here? anybody done the white wolf drill to this extent?

thanks,
DCP

I have done a drill simular to this. I checked my normal shooting speed and found it to be about two and a half rails with the cueball. I have no idea if this is considered a fast or slow speed?

Most players I know will not do drills, so if suggesting this drill to others, I would start by suggesting just left, right, draw, follow, and force follow (and don't mention anything about speed). i.e. keep it simple at first for players who are good at pocketing balls with center, but tend to miss shots when trying to get position.

Or suggest while playing a game that one or both players shoot all shots with left for first game, then right for next, then draw, follow, and force follow. (For players who resist practicing with drills and always want to play. Fellow league players for example...)

Then for advanced players who are willing to devote time to practice and drills, do what you suggested. i.e. a full set of WW drills along with slow, medium, and fast speed.

I already have quite a bit of practice drills, so I broke the WW drills down by day of week. So say Monday after my regular drills (for Monday) I will shoot in all 15 balls with left. Then Tuesday right, Wednesday draw, etc. I like your suggestion to add speed, so I think I'll add slow, medium, and fast speeds.

I've been having trouble sinking balls with fast long draw shots (miss pocket but get position), so I certaintly need to work on fast shots.

Thanks for the excellent suggestion. Again, you guys are the best instructors anywhere!
