Who are the “Robots’” and why/how are they reading threads?

Visitors used to be classified as Members or Guests; now, we have three classifications: Members, Guests, and Robots.

Why does it look like this shooting robot has "chicken wing"?? Am I doing something wrong by not using the "chicken wing" method???
