Does anyone want to make a curly maple shaft for my schon?

I understand that alot of cuemakers stay away from it because it doesn't stay straight.

Also, since it will be a little stiffer, would it be a good idea to lengthen the taper just a little?

Here's a thought also, a couple of years ago i bought a cheap J&J jump/break that has a very curly shaft. Since the ferrule is cracked i don't use it anymore, but it has a conical taper & i believe it's a little over 13mm.

If it's still straight, could one of you guys re-taper it & make a collar w/ silver ring to match my schon?

$175 for the shaft. Or might could modify your shaft. I have some really old Curly Maple blanks that I have been turning on for years.

Are you sure you want a curly shaft. I have a Mike Stacy with a curly. Mike makes a hell of a stick but I couldn't stand the curly shaft. The curl is harder than the rest of the maple and doesn't sand down smooth. The shaft looks awsome but not smooth to shoot with. I ended up making another shaft for it. Of course since I shoot with my own stick now with an OB1 it sites pretty in my display case never to come except for show and tell.

He is selling birdseye shafts, which i've never seen before. I have played with a curly shaft before & loved it, i'm not sure if birdseye will be the same, but I did call him today & he is making one for my schon.

Can't wait to see how it will play.

Actually i have had 2 different offers to sell me a curly shaft made by schon. I would prefer that, but if for some reason it doesn't work out, i'll get in contact with you.

thanks

The best playing cue i've ever had was a purple heart meucci sneaky that was 60 inches & had a super curly shaft. It wasn't as whippy as most meucci's.
