Are some of you folks going around and buying up all the old billiards books?

As I travel around to different areas, I'll stop at used bookstores and ask if they have any books on pool or billiards.

I hear the same thing at many used bookstores... "Oh I can't keep billiards books on the shelves, as soon as I get them, they are gone."

I've found some good oldies at a few used bookstores, but most of the stores have been picked clean!

Can it be that these old billiards books may become collector's items someday and worth a lot of money?

I just went through the same thing last week in the Bay Area. I hit 8 bookstores, and only 3 had any billiard books. I felt lucky to find a couple of small paperbacks from the early 80s and a couple from the 70s.

I talked to one store owner and he was saying the Internet has changed the dynamics. It's easier to see that a book is rare or common so the prices of the rare books have gone sky high and the common books have become very cheap.

Yeah....Dr.Cue'sProtege is buying them all up.....he's still looking for that majic bullett(J/K DCP). :D
I've noticed the same thing here, but I think there are many books available through the internet. Run a search for used billiards books on Amazon and other used book sites.

There are not that many to start with and most never go to a second printing, so where are the used books to come from if so few existed in the first place?

I do hit the used book stores, ebay and amazon...built a solid collection too. I still cant believe the Red Book of One Pocket sells on ebay for over $125. I think I paid $30 for it from John Wright at the US Open One Pcoket tournament in '98 or '99
