Who likes to gamble?

I bet my wife on the exact amount of the check when we go out to dinner, who ever is closer doesn't have to pay.

I've gambled where I would play using a small trash can as my cue, or a piece of chalk to hit the cueball. Tossing coins at the spot is a favorite also.

Problem is, I've seen your videos...;)

Seriously? I don't gamble. I had a long broke drive back from Reno after my 21st birthday, using Dad's credit card for gas. A buddy had a sure fire system..lol! That drive gave me time to realize that gambling is really a business, and that I'm not in that business.

You forgot the old classic one- putting your life savings and retirement funds into stocks and betting the market doesn't crash.

Reminds me of an H. L. Mencken quote:

"The gambling known as business looks with disfavor upon the business known as gambling."

There was an old guy working in oil fields years ago that would bet a case of beer with the newbies that he could jump flatfooted into an empty 55 gal. Barrel. Never lost! Management made him stop cause brand new employees were going to hospital on first day of work. Never ever bet when somebody says they can do something!!

Actually, that's one of *MY* favorite bets, too. And I would do it using only one leg! (That's right -- I can hold one of my feet in one hand, and jump up and over the wall of the 55 gallon barrel, into its center, using only one leg.)

A variation of this is jumping over a NYC fire hydrant with only one leg -- no, I don't mean using my hands to catapult/propel myself over that 5-sided valve, either like one sees kids do. No, just walking up to it, lifting one foot into and holding with my hand, and use the other leg to hop completely over the fire hydrant -- without ever touching the fire hydrant.

I don't normally do that bet anymore, because I did hurt myself badly one day when the tied loops of one of my shoelaces snagged -- mid-jump -- on that 5-sided valve, and I did a header ride into the sidewalk -- smashing my nose and nearly knocking out a few front teeth. Needed a few staples and stitches on that one!

I used to bet my brother when we were kids. We'd bet on raindrops on the window. Whoever's raindrop got to the bottom first, won.
