I put this in the ask the cuemaker section. Since it is pool related, I will give everybody a try. Please help me identify this cue. Made in1984 I think.
Thanks, Purdman:cool:

Hey Purd,

It looks alot like the stylings of Richard Black from around that time, but I'm no expert. I think that he signed most of his cues, but I guess the cue could have been refinished. Did you get any ideas from the cuemakers?

That is what I was told when I bought it. Was told it was made for a road player. It isn't signed or refinished. When I asked Tim, he said he either didn't make it or else he didn't remember it.

If it is an 84 Scruggs, what is it worth?

Nice looking cue...I like the A and B as well as the ivory inlays...How could a cue maker not recognize his own work? Does the cue have style trademarks of his? I never seen anything other than his sneaky petes...Good luck

That doesn't look like an RB to me... I have never seen a cue where he used that star.... and the rings don't look like his work.... My sharp eyes also say the pin is sticking out too far to be a RB.... Plus... the shafts have no insert showing... RB usually has the brass (encased in wood) sticking out a bit....

My first guess is Scruggs. I've seen that ebony floating "point" on an older scruggs before (I can swear it's the same dimension), and the ivory spears look very similar as well.

but that's just a very uneducated guess, fwiw.
