Will Mike Sigel be the next 'King of the Hill' after this next event?

I thought about this last night, reading comments and such about the IPT tour. For starters, I am all for this tour, although I was not chosen. Maybe I will qualify for 2007, who knows... In any event, Mike Sigel, the current 'King of the Hill', will be pretty tough to be knocked off the top in the next two events!

Here's why I think so:
He's the current money leader, with $150k in the bag.
He's guaranteed to win another $100k in the next event, which puts $250k in his bag guaranteed if he loses.
Unless LoreeJon Jones gets the chance to play him again, which her chances are slim at this point, the next in line on the money standings would have 'only' $200k and would still not be the 'King of the Hill'.
And what if Mike Sigel actually wins this event again? He would have $350k in his bag and would be even tougher to knock of the top!
Do the math, lol! Mike Sigel is pretty much guaranteed to play the next two 'King of the Hill' matches, if not more, and $350k in his pocket! WOW, not a bad deal at all for coming out of retirement... :D

Having said all this, I am still an advocate of this tour. Pool needs something drastic to happen for it to change. And this is pretty drastic in my opinion! I wish this tour the best of success, for it will benefit the players. :D

Not true. The next King of the Hill will be the top prize money earner after all those giant prize funds are paid out next year.

So, after the Orlando King of the Hill Tournament then everyone starts out on even footing in January. And the top money winner will earn the title King of the Hill. Or Queen. Well, that should add a lot of excitement to the tournament throughout the year.

I think you could've included a "Not a chance" option. I would have picked that one.

I think the fact that he has already seen one major payday may actually do more harm than good. Who ever gets to him in the finals will be hungrier for that pay-dirt than Mike is, and that could play a factor. This point is obviously very arguable though, so time will tell.

I agree with you, NaClBandit! :)

To draw out a comparison, at the finals of the Skins Billiards Championship, where Santos won about $54,000 in one game of sudden death, he was playing a VERY DIFFERENT game than he was earlier in the event, as was Danny "Kid Delicious" Basavich. Each shot, the tension was so thick, you could cut the air with a knife. Santos looked as if he was hyperventilating between each ball, and the way he held his composure through all of it came from being a veteran in the pit. VERY FEW MISTAKES were made at this stage of the event, and I can't wait for it to be televised on January 2nd, 2006, so that I can relive the excitement again.

When the final rounds of the IPT King of the Hill Shootout comes around, whoever finds themself competing against Mike Sigel for the $200,000, you can be sure that it will be probably the best finals match of all time. Personally, I look forward to seeing that and do wonder who will climb their way to the top, but as we all know around here in Forum Land, that's a topic for another thread! :p
