Who Would You Vote In To the 1Pocket HOF

I got two...

Cecil Tugwell
Jaffar "Patch Eye" Basheer (even though he said he doesn't want in the HOF)

Later on down the road:
Alex Pagulayan
Scotty Frost

I think Tugwell said, "I do not wish to belong to any club, that would have me as a member"! (or something like that)
...And as unpleasant and misrable as he could be at times, nobody argued the point with him either! :o

I don't know the game or follow it much, but I think Scott Frost would be high on the list.

The others that come to my mind are Frank "Da Barber" Almanza and John Henderson. Also Billy Incardone.

As far as the best one pocket I have seen played was between Dennis Orcullo and Alex Pagulayan at California Billiards a few months ago. I believe eventually these two will be in there as well.

I'd have to agree with Frost. He's like 40 now, isn't he? Seems like a no brainer.

i havent read any replies so
lou i ask you
who do you think should be nominated
why wait for others to respond
you have never been shy about your opinions

Because that's the way I want to do it, Larry. Besides, my opinion will surface now and then throughout the thread.

Pretty sure the White Hope is in the Bank HOF....
...He belongs in the One Pocket hall also.....
...that's Vern Elliot, for those who just arrived on this planet.

Didn't know Elliot was known for his 1pocket too.

My favorite tape to date.
Ronnie Allen against Danny Diliberto.
I worked a tourney for Grady in the 90's and watched Cliff Joyner and Rickie Rich literally play all nite. Been a fan of one pocket ever since.
That's my 4.

I think all but Richie are already in.

Harold Worst and Luther Lassiter.

Yeah. Harold Worst was probably one of the greatest 1pocket players (and every other billiard game you'd care to name) of all times. It'd be tough to vote against Wimpy.

Keith McCready if he's still around. Some of his stakehorses are in the HOF.

Keith would certainly be a popular choice but with some of the other names out there who are better known for their 1pocket, it might be a little early for him to be induced, IMO.

Sure, rub it in Jam..Keith has it made!..Most of my former stakehorses are either on welfare, or in rehab!..Several others just gave up trying to recover, and committed suicide!..It ain't easy, being a pool player who never won! :sorry:

PS..Just curious, isn't that Keith on the left, in Terryhannas photo in post #27?..Thats pretty much how he looked, the last time I saw him..Its been a while!

SJD, in case you missed it, that's also Keith on the left in JAM's avatar.

Is being alive a prerequisite to be inducted? I nominated the Mighty Geese, and as you know he left us almost 10 years ago already. Of course you've gotta vote for Keith but would you vote for Geese too?

You can be dead.

I see you edited your original post.

Yep, that Keith with Johnny's arm around him. And the guy at the other end, that's Jerry Bento. Keith speaks to him almost every day still. He lives in South Carolina with is two doggies.

Believe it or not, today, Keith's best game is one-hole, and if he were to engage in a game of stakes, one-pocket would be his choice because it incorporates many skills of pocket billiards, not just breaks and pocketing balls. It's more like chess.

Keith has been nominated to be in the Hall of Fame several times, but due to the fact that he was not able to attend the Derby City Classic, it was thought that it would be better to wait until he was able to attend the festivities. Though it was horrible what happened to you when you fell ill that year you were inducted, it is very nice that you were, indeed, inducted and did not have to be there in person. :)

Why was Keith unable to attend the DCC?
