Who's the best table mechanic in the Southeast?

Mark Gregory

Mark put my brother's table together, it is an old table so it was quite challenging. Mark is very professional and very good. I doubt there is anyone better. He works out Atlanta, and would be available to do tables in Florida.

How ironic? How do like your table now? Does Al work for Brunswick? I notice there is a Brunswick logo on his overall.

Victor Conte Billiards is a Brunswick dealer. Also Al said that he teaches a class for Brunswick to table mechanics once or twice a year(I cant remeber what he said for sure).I love my table with 860 cloth on it.

Hi Chesscat,

I couldn't agree with you more.

Over the years, we have employed a lot of table mechanics to do our pool rooms. Mark is the only table mechanic that I would employ. He's the best that I've seen, so far. I'm sure there are other mechanics out there that do quality work such as Al Conte, Ernesto Dominguez, and some others.

So it is true that Al is the Master mechanic for Brunswick. He also invented the wax that fill the seams for the slates. I'm told that this is the best wax out there.

He did say that alot of mechanics get their wax from him.It was great watching and talking with him while he was working.I made a point of asking him if it would bother him if I watched and he said go right ahead.During one conversation a name came up about a guy he used to fly planes with 40 years ago.Come to find out it was my mothers uncle whom she loved dearly that died when I was 2 back in 71. Small world.

I've never really liked the Blue Wax. We have used it before but on some tables it would come up. Mainly on ones with Waterputty on it from before. We use pure beezwax and we never have problems with that.

I have used Waterputty but I only use that on tables with big chunks missing or where it is so bad the wax won't stick.

I did have some guy who tried to do a table himself. He used toilet wax (For sealing toilets I guess) and it took us forever to scrape that off.

But everyone has their preferences.

I've heard Mark Gregory but our own "PAINTER" gets honorable mention as he pays attention and spends as much time as the job requires to get it done right.
