Hello everyone let's make a little play of predictions here.
Who do you think will go to the next round of 8 or the Quarter Final?

Here's my pick and hopefully you would pick your own.

Chien-Che Huang (TPE) v Alex Pagulayan (CAN)
I'll go for Alex, it seems he's peeking at the right time.

Marlon Manalo (PHI) v Efren Reyes (PHI)
I think I go for Efren when the going gets tough experience
and gutsy plays will prove a useful friend.

Po-Cheng Kuo (TPE) v Earl Strickland (USA)
This one is for the ages. I heard that this Kuo is very good
except that he does not play so much tournament not until
recently and he's showing his worth. I think ill go for an upset
here...I'll go for Kuo. Im not taking away Strickland though
bcoz he's playing well in this tournament. But i have a feel
that this guy will prove

Fong-Pang Chao (TPE) v Imran Majid (ENG)
Skills wise and experience in the WPC that would prove
handy for Chao but Majid is peeking at the right time just
like Alex given that 9 balls is anybody's game when the
player is in the zone. Its a hard line to call. But i will
go for Chao for a slight edge. (But i will not be surprise for
an upset win by Majid!)

Marcus Chamat (SWE) v Thorsten Schober (GER)
Chamat is playing very consistently now in many tournaments
but Schober is playing very well as far as this tournament is
concern. Again it would be a tough one to call. But ill go for
Chamat here.

Dennis Orcollo (PHI) v Pei-Wei Chang (TPE)
Dennis has come of age but Pei-Wei Chang is a tough nut to
crack. Many favored Chang here but ill go for Dennis here, he's
proven so far in this tournament that being down doesn't mean
out. So he will give Chang a boot here.

Johnny Archer (USA) v Niclas Bergendorff (SWE)
Bergendorff just defeated the very good Mika Immonen and former
champion at that. He also defeated brutally Fabio Petroni. But
Archer plays so far a solid game plus his hunger to win his first
WPC championship would be a great motivator.
So i'll go for Archer here.

Rodolfo Luat (PHI) v Ching-Ching Kang (TPE)
Wow Luat is peeking at the right time defeating a very good
Hu Kui Hsia at brutal 9-2 but Kang has demolished
the defending Champion Hohmann at 9-1. So this one is
a hard line to call. I'll favor Kang this time (but as Filipino as I am
i would always welcome Luat to win !!)

So guys cast your bold predictions!

Johnny Archer won the WPA World Championships in 1992 & 1997, so this will NOT be his first time if he wins.

Yap your right. I stand corrected my apology.
I did go to the wpc website and listed archer as their champion
on 1992 and 1997.

Sorry i just saw the WPC since last 1999 when it was first
broadcasted here in the Philippines and that time Efren won the WPC.

Pagulayan vs Huang
Pagulayan easy, proabably the easiest pick out of the last 16.

Manalo vs Reyes
Manalo is a very good player, but this is the Magician were talking about, I'll take him to win.

Kuo vs Strickland
Earl is playing well and proved how cool he is under pressure, I have to take him.

Chao vs Majid
This is a tough one, I'll take Majid for the upset.

Chamat vs Schober
Who would've thought Schober would be the German player to make it to the last 16  He won't make it to the last 8, I'm picking Chamat!

Orcollo vs Chang
Another tough one, their both good players but I'll give the slight edge to Orcollo.

Archer vs Bergendoff
Johnnys on fire, gotta go with the Scorpion.

Luat vs Kang
Since I don't know a thing about Kang, I'll pick Luat.

Don't make me upset!

Chao - no upset here...
Pagulayan - easy
Kang - the sure-shot upset
Strickland - sorry Kuo...
Chamat
Reyes
Chang - young hot shot will teach you something!
Archer

Who woulda thunk it?

A couple of guys on this forum (i.e., Gremlin) called out Manalo over Reyes. I missed the Reyes and Strickland upsets, but got the Kang, Chang right. Gremlin, did you make shitloads of money, or what?

You can see how good I am at predicting matches :D ..and I just threw all my vbookie cash on Pagulayan  LOL!
