It may sound like a dumb question but I am serious. Was there some kind of study done that determined that? When Cuetec started they were mostly white if I remember correctly.

you're probably thinking of cuetecs fiberglass shafts. carbon fiber is always black/dark grey?

Carbon fibers are typically black, I work in an industry that uses carbon heavily and it's all pretty much black under any sort of finish. So the shafts are black because of the material and the ones that aren't (like the Whyte ones in woodgrain or white finish) have a finish of some sort over the carbon fiber.

Yeah, you can paint carbon fiber no problem. Those are finished and if you look at the inside of the tubes you'll see they're black...because that's the color of carbon and the color layer is just a surface finish.

If the players like it no reason to change.
Has anyone cut up a white Whyte Carbon shaft to see if it’s just a surface finish?

It's a powder coated surface finish.
That accords with what I felt the one time I tired the white Whyte. It was much stickier than a normal CF. It might be okay if you use a glove, but it was too sticky for my bare bridge hand.

Any cf shaft that is NOT black has a coating on it. Stay away, stay very far away!
