Why are Predator cue extensions so damned expensive?

Looking to buy one and I was surprised that to get the adaptor bumper and the extension is in the $110-120 range. Why the hell is it so costly? Does anyone know where I can get something much cheaper?

Here's the deal. It's not a necessary piece of equipment. They know people will pay. They price accordingly. People still buy the product, so they were absolutely correct in their pricing. I don't care who you are, you don't need an extension. I have one but want and need are two different things. I understand why they are used, but a $12 moose head bridge will fit on a house cue or your break stick. 🤷‍♂️

Does it seem expensive, why of course. Find another option or pay up, there's no choice and griping won't fix anything. :)

If you divide by 4 you will find that to be close to the cost of goods if the profit margin is around 50%. Low quantities are ordered for accessories that aren’t expected to sell quickly, and the MCOG is higher. If the profit margin is closer to 65% then I would think each joint extension would cost $20 to make for orders of 100 to 200 at a time. That’s about what you would see in any market today.

Things that are way cheaper than the math above typically have serious quality issues in order to drop the MCOG, like using crap steel or MDF.

Extensions don't work for us wood guys unless we take the shaft down all the way to the joint. I have to explain this because people need to know there is a finish on the shaft. Back in my days, the players will sand that finish off to get it completely smooth.

I can't use an extension because I still have the finish on my shafts and I don't wear gloves. I will also be sticking with the bridge inserts.

Perhaps that's an option for the OP.

LOL

I have this one for one of my cues and it works great, craftmanship it nice too. Nothing over the top, it does the trick

They were around $80 plus years ago. I have the 8" and mini which I'm extending. If you have 2 Predators and extra adaptor that screws onto the butt sells for $30.

Maybe a cue maker can custom make (a few) using Uniloc JP pins. The threaded adaptor would be the issue. Extension a not big deal...I wonder if the adaptor can be done on a 3D printer.

Will that fit all predator cues or do some have different butt dimensions for that bumper adaptor? I have a Predator Roadline cue. Thanks
Contact the seller and ask. Good thing is it's Prime...if you have Prime it can be returned with no hassles.

Any cue will work with this:

I bought a generic on amazon that someone in the reviews said fit on a predator. It fit and worked perfectly. I do have a predator one now only because it came as a package with a cue I bought.

On another note I bought the predator version years ago when they first came out. With in a year the screw stripped and wouldn’t hold tight. I guess they realized that was a problem because they change the screw and I couldnt get a new butt to match the old 🙄

I play with wood, have an extension, have never taken the finish off my shafts beyond what is normal for cue work, and don't wear a glove. Works perfectly fine.

I do make extremely minor effort to keep my cue clean. Maybe that's the difference...?
