Why even have handicapped tournaments?

Was looking at the NE series tournament which is a B-C-D event. In the players list I see Dave Fernandez who has a bunch of top 10 Joss Tour finishes, and a guy that shut him out. Methinks that is not B-level play.

Why can't people say "whoa there buddy, you are too good to enter this event"? I have seen palyers pretend to be lower handicapps way too much, and have been forced to give a spot to players I know are better than me because some nit said that they don't play well and the person running the tournament went along. Bunch of rubbish. And heaven forbid if a player is friends with the person running the tournament, a C player would be giving a spot to Strickland in that situation.

Now maybe Dave went into this thing knowing full well he's an A, and the people there knew he was an A and the people running the thing knew and all agreed and all is good and peachy, but it still was listed as a B-C-D event. I almost drove the 1+ hours to play in it, and would not have been happy seeing players higher that a B in there.

Why even have hadicapped tournaments? How can you even ask such a question. You don't feel that people with disabilities should be allowed to have pool tournaments the same as everyone else? It really galls me when...what? You want me to re-read the post. Okay, so...my bad. Carry on hang.

You say it's a NE series tourney. Is it sanctioned or sponsored by
somebody? Somebody must be in control. Can you get a list of participants?
Have legit players sign a petition? Type up a letter stating your grievances and evidence. Send a copy to whoever is in charge with a threat to mail it to participants if things are not made right.

You see, whining to us only gets you advice and solace. If it were me I probably would not do anything because I wouldn't want to put in the work that's necessary or take the crap that would be forthcoming.

There are people out there though, who I admire greatly, that would take on a cause like yours. But don't feel guilty if you don't. Most of us would also let sleeping dogs lay.

The problem is , non-action does reduce greatly your right to whine.
