Why hide the jump joint?

Has anyone ever seen a stainless jump joint? I'm curious about adding a stainless jump joint to one of my cues. Not necessarily as big as the regular joint, but maybe a "mini joint". Any suggestions or comments?

It would be heavy.

It's the weight! You want the shaft and jump handle as light and stiff as possible hence a light pin and joint. You can use stainless but it will diminish the performance of the cue.

Sheldon is right on with his answer. If you really want Stainless in the jump joint, I would suggest boring out the stainless collars to give you a wall of only about 1/16" thickness to cut down on the weight. Remember extra weight is a jump shots number two enemy just behind a soft tip.

The joint would be in the removeable end. Not the jump butt. Right? (I'm talking about a jump/break cue)

then theres no problem , but use a thin one as previously stated , don't want to upset the weight/balance of your cue too much if your already happy with it !

That is how I understood it. It's still going to be heavy. Also, the joint is much larger in diameter, which would mean you would have to get someone to make one from scratch. You could do a sleeve like Chris suggested, and it would probably be ok.
