Seems like theres about 3-4 big money entry barbox tourneys a yr now. Each one fills up with 16 entries no problem. I would love to see a 9b/10b long race tournament on a big table..

Something along the lines of:
Race to 15 or 21
$1.5-2000 entry
Calcutta
16 players
Double elimination
9ft diamond
Winner breaks

Start early and this could easily be done fri-sun. Plenty of pool rooms around the country to accommodate play.

Smoking Aces did a one pocket event with 8 men and a good entry. They had to bring in some tables for it.

absolutely i agree. Iron mans pool!

Because the favorites win the Lions share 9m bog tables. Didn't Olinger win big at one of these? He auctioned pretty inexpensively in first round. That's an event a lot of guys could cash in if it had 64 players...2k a piece plus auction would be epic.

The auctions there are just awesome.

Maybe now that Mike Chandley has a large enough facility, we can see some of these matches on 9-footers. I suspect it comes down to the cost of bringing in so many tables.

I think the problem is the Calcutta is viewed as illegal gambling in many states. The room owner would possible fines, loss of liquor license and possible business license. Too much to risk for most.

Last month The Memphis Open was on 9ft GC and only $500 entry, race to 15 was open to 32 players and they had a hard time getting 16 players.

Smokin Aces 2k event is next weekend and still not a full field yet.

The room owners and promoters have to do a lot of work trying to get enough sponsors, backers and players to pull off one of these type events.
