With Kingpin 2 being announced and the return of the rose encased bowling ball, it made me wonder about the significance. At least McDermott and Meucci have rose themed cues. Why put a rose on a cue or in a bowling ball?

It was not very popular. I sold a lot of meucci cues but don't ever remember selling one of the rose cues. I think the rose was too big. People tend to like things that are a bit more subtle.
I've never sold Meucci cues , however I do own one but its a modest looking cue by anyone's standard .It was not very popular. I sold a lot of meucci cues but don't ever remember selling one of the rose cues. I think the rose was too big. People tend to like things that are a bit more subtle.
Meucci back in the day had a number of cues where you wondered who the heck designed them.
Why not women like a dozen roses.

I almost mentioned viking in my post. They loved plastic rings and had some cues with so many inlays it made you dizzy. They were maybe the last holdout making a 57 inch cue standard and fat butts.their weirdest stuff still look better than any viking cue
i think the rose one is ok. not my cup but it's not awful to look at

McDermott did a weird thing way back. They had a cue in their line that was a C6. It was a simple four-point cue with veneers that look just like Balabushka or Joss or any of the standard 4 point cues. For some inexplicable reason they took it out of their line. I was a McDermott dealer at that time, it was my best selling cue. You’re never going to like all the designs, I personally prefer Meucci designs on average compared to some others. The recent rose cue in the McDermott 50 yr anniversary line was a pretty good one. I never loved the original D series rose cue, but some loved them. Other D series cues looked great to me though. Anyway, IMO McDermott botched the 50 yr line. So many great C and D series cues and to me they just blew it with most of these new ones. I was waiting for a great D series design other than the rose and needless to say they didn’t do one.
Also, IMO, cue companies should hire me as a consultant to help them out.
I ordered one from a good American company with a few custom requests. Plain cue but I wanted a specific wrap and rings from a different model. With the stain color, rings, and wrap it looks good. I ordered it through a dealer and they allegedly said something like, yeah that combination works…. Yes, you should do that and sell them.![]()
