Why this ten ball rule?

I actually like call shot in a way. Like if you miss the corner badly and two rail the ball you probably shouldn’t get rewarded.

But it takes too much away I think when you have to call only 1 ball. Why can’t I call the two way shot and stay shooting if one of them drops? If you make it clear that you know what’s going on and what the probable outcomes of a shot are then it should be ok in call shot.

No game in pool where you have to make a called shot allows you to call more than one ball. I mean you can just call "those 10 balls in those 6 pockets" or call two pockets for a single ball. Things get too complex too fast. Is one ball called in two pockets same as calling two balls in a single pocket each? Seems to me it's the same sort of idea so then that would be a rule also that is equal in guessing where the balls will go. A lot of just missed side pocket shots bank across to another pocket, so calling two pockets would help. I think I did that several times this week, missed side pocket, banked it cross corner. Would have helped me out having a rule of multiple balls or multiple pockets a shot LOL

Why is the called shot rule cheesy?
Apologies, What I meant was that I think adding dumb rules to appease short sighted rules is cheesy. Being able to pass back a shot at the table because a ball fell but didn't generate a foul is cheesy. Just my opinion. I don't need anyone to agree with me.
Why would missing and getting lucky be rewarded? It's a bit like the bar bangers playing behind the line rules and scratching on purpose so they player has to kick at a ball. There should be no benefit for a mistake or a foul.
I always thought missing was the opposite of getting lucky...? So if I miss and the opponent likes he's shot I'm unlucky, but if doesn't like his shot then I'm unlucky..?

I agree there shoud be zero benefit to the shooter if they fouled. The penality to the shooter if they miss is a loss of turn.

I am not a fan of completely removing the random nature of the game from the game. We all may as well do nothing but spot shots, or that dumb placement pool crap Earl keeps puking up in his commentary.

Well that’s where I differ from many other people. I would love it if the world was filled with mostly people like me. I run on common sense and freedom. I don’t stop at a red light with no one around. I would never call those 10 balls in those 6 pockets or anything remotely along those lines.

Not two possible pockets for one ball, it’s just obvious. I’m going for the one, cue ball is going to hit the 7 and send it towards that pocket so I call the one and the seven.

I’ve always wanted to meet a clone of myself. Like same memories and all. We would start diverging after creation but we’d be best friends and sparring partners in many things. Oh how great

Just so nothing is lost in translation. I have zero problems with 'call ball + call pocket'. Beyond that, it just gets dumb.

If I call my intended object ball and it goes in the pocket I want. Then my turn should continue and I should reap the benefit of any other ball being dropped. Whether it's the 2 thru 9, or the 10. If I miss my intended shot then I should not get credit for any other ball made, (2 thru 9, or the 10). If I miss my intended shot, do not foul, and my opponent doesn't like the shot. They should be automatically rewarded a shot clock extension to allow them to locate their soother within their pool case, and complete a hurt feelings report.
