Wichita, KS poolrooms

Thanks! Working there this week...hopefully i'll have time to visit some places.

Wichita Poolrooms

East Side - Southrock on S. Rock Road a couple of blocks before Pawnee.

Midtown - Rumors on Hydraulic across from Linwood Park (1800 South) - 10 7 footers, 1 9 footer.
................Shooters on Hydraulic about 1.5 mile south of Rumors down by Hydraulic and Wassell. 10 7 footers.

West side.. Styx on Meridian down at about 27th street south. (Where I go to play now ... 8 ball tournaments on Friday and Saturday night at 10, 9 ball tournament on Sunday night at 8:30 pm. Good little tournaments. Usually between 12 and 22 players. Has about 22 7 footers, 3 9 footers, and a Snooker table.

SidePockets - out by Tyler and Kellogg. Large place. Kind of a yuppie atmosphere. About 21 or 22 7 footers, and 9 9 footers. Modern place.

Others - Rackem Up on South Meridian at Harry. Champs on South Seneca just past McCormick 2 blocks.

DGunter...The absolute BEST place to play in Wichita is the room that Mr. Shurtz owns (Shurtz Custom Cues). Gabe Owen's dad I think is in there too. Top shelf Diamond 9 footers...but there's only 3-4 tables. Great place to play...and you can get some cuework done, if you need it. The address is 2006 S. Washington.

What is a good place to go in this area?

Thank you as well. I'll be at McConnell working so I don't know how much time I will have, but I'll try to get out and hit a few balls atleast one night.

Definitely Side Pockets if you need to shoot on a 9 footer. Although, I wish I knew about the place Scott mentioned when I was out in Wichita last. Many of the other places I went to I was not impressed with.

Which Scott?

Scott Lee or me? The place Scott Lee mentioned (and I overlooked) is known as Shurtz Custom Cues, Tight Pockets, or just called The Cue Shop, and is at Mount Vernon and Washington. For big table play, it is real good.

I mentioned Styx, where I go most of the time nowdays, which has 3 big tables and a Snooker table besides their 22-23 7 footers. South 3-4 blocks from Pawnee and Meridian.

Also, if you like old time Pool Halls, and for the best Golf game in town, go to Club Billiards on Douglas just east of Seneca. Golf games on a Snooker table go on every afternoon and most nights in there. Great cheeseburgers are served.

SidePockets is modern (nice woodwork throughout), big, modern, attracts younger yuppie types, but is not where gambling goes on.
