Will a 5/16 x18 shaft fit a Viking Quick Release Cue which is also 5/16 x18?

I can get a very good deal on a Z2 shaft but it is a 5/16 x18 and i own a Viking with the VQR joint but it is also a 5/16 x18. I have no way to check it before i buy will it fit?... Thanks.

Viking's QR joint pin is slightly thicker than their old 5/16x18. I've had both. In fact, I had a Predator shaft designed for a 5/16x18 and it would fit on my regular Viking butt, but not my Viking QR butt.

So my personal experience says no, it won't fit.

Zombie,
The Z2 shaft will fit the Viking QR with one simple modification. The insert in the Z2 shaft needs to be drilled 1" deep with a 17/64" bit. This is not something that you want to do with a hand-held drill motor. Take it to a CM and have it done right.
 
One thing that you should be aware of, Predator does not build a shaft specifically for the Viking QR. Who ever you buy the shaft from will have to drill it anyway.
 
I bought a Z2 for my Viking and the seller did the drilling for me since I told him what I was putting it on. I can't remember which big seller I got it from off Ebay but I suspect they can all do it for free like my seller did for me.
