Will a Joss cue work well with a 314 shaft?

As previously mentioned the 314 will work fine on a Joss. That being said, Ralph Souquet uses this combination.

You think the OB classic pro has the same deflection as the 314-2? I heard OB classic pro (and thus OB2) are more similar to Z2. Any opinion?

I've only test-hit with a Z-2 but I did shoot with a Z (1st gen) for about a year in 2004-2005. I would say the Z had noticeably less deflection than the OB Classic Pro. I shot with a 314-2 for about a year from 2006-2007 and the deflection is nearly identical to the OB Classic Pro.

I shot with a solid maple shaft from 2008 to about 2 months ago. The OB Classic Pro feels GOOD. I don't miss the solid maple shaft one bit, and I have the deflection characteristics of a 314-2.

Low Deflection? yeah wathever. How many shafts do you think theve sold by simply coming up with a brilliant marketing plan and making everyone think they need one. A cue needs personality!!

Earl was on Exhibition- I broke and ran the rack with

a brand New Joss N-17, which was the raffle Cue from the womens first Pro tournament in Mn History. At Biff's- It(the cue) was won by 2 married guys with children. For 2 bucks, one said to the other give me 300. its yours . I told them don't hit a ball with it and I'll give you 500. It was for sale in the Paper for 900. by the ,a stroke of luck,I saw the add. The cue was valued then at 900. I pd 520. and picked it up at their Apartment. Maybe the language of how I made my last statement is confusing .Ty Wilson has brought many Pro's to Town. Thanks Ty for 20 yrs of bringing Professionals like Mr. Steve Mizerak, Nick Varner,Grady Mathews and letting me enjoy those times with you. I also love the way my pred. z-1 with a z-2 ferrule plays. Janette Lee won the tourney-1993. e-mail me Ross I'll give ya TY's number just in case you can't read or dis believe me now. Ty Wilson's Team is the same team who won the BCA,Vnea Nationals 2 times in a row- last yr they they only won 1 league. So they have a record in team Play that will never be beaten. There is another story about Ty playing straight pool in exhibition- Ty borrows a bud light cue ,Steve using the Famous Richard Black Cue- anyway Ty runs like 66 balls on Steve with the Bud light Cue(Steve's Famous Commercials are the Miller light ads) Steve politely says something about his contacts.Game over. So In the middle of the night (Ty hears the commercial , Steve is saying something to the effect- nobody can beat me,shoots the ball 3 rails and says I'm just getting warmed up ,lifts the beer and the shot goes in. Ty sits up in bed and says I can. I just did- there was a beautiful woman involved but we leave that out. Please don't imply I lied on AZ ever again Ross- I expect more from you- mark

In 1997 I spoke with Danny/about shafts. I ordered both

And at that time. Eddie Taylor was with Danny!! He told stories and shot banks for hours. I was like the kid in a Candy store. I was carrying a George BalaBuska (someone else's- trying to get in Pictured in Victor Steins- upcoming Encyclopedia. I did receive the 2nd autographed copy. My friend Jerry getting the first. Many people do have the LD shafts made for there custom cues.(matching ring work) like the last 15 ys I remember, and to a cue maker that is a Jab in the face to them. But the cue maker does it to make the customer happy- its better now. Its kind of like putting new seat covers on your vehicle -so when you sell it the New owner gets the benefit. thanks for reading looking. I wish someone told me to buy the best cue then, not work your way up. Joss cues will not sell you short-for the money! PS Ross I bought you a coke too-pay up LOL- what size shirt do you wear- I'll give the University Tee shirt to Ya- not the SW- LOL I vote Z-2. Mark

I have 2 joss cues and a viking sneaky pete, I have 2 314'S (first run) for each brand. that being said. they will make a difference, (good or bad) in the way you'll shoot. I swap back and forth depending on how I am shooting. if I am playing less than I am use to I will shitch shafts and for some reason this works for me. when all else fails I switch to the snealy pete because of the wood on wood feel it has and that will usually fix the problem. or maybe it because I suck

either way ebay is probably you best bet good luck

Salted,

I used a Predator 314 for years on my Joss and loved it. Unfortunately it received a few dings and while I was having it repaired I ordered an OB-1. Both work well with a Joss; however, I prefer the feel of the OB-1 over the 314. I like the OB-1's 12.75 size better with my old eyes.

Some good advice has been given here in regards to trying things out first. Ask around and shoot more then just a few balls with both. Make sure you set up various types of shots requiring different english, speed, etc. In fact, I recommend you play the ghost as many sets as possible using each shaft. Erase the doubt by giving both a good work out and go with whichever suits "you" best.

You can't go wrong -- no matter your choice between these two fine shafts!

Hopefully ,you've changed the tip 2-3times -or ferrule design capped or not capped

Troy Koinnkid had demo shafts all threads, and let his future customers use the OB Shafts. Best to try what you can first- because of the Price. Remember cue makers usually charge 150-200. for there best shafts. Length is another thing you should consider (the longer length shafts were older wood) which cost 20 bucks more but well worth it- and it can always be made shorter. I agree with the poster who said (are you sure you know how to use center ball. center ball is a tiny place on the ball. Most players are putting English on without knowing- you might try lessons before blaming the cue!!!! Do you know where the pivot point on your cue is??? again I say knowledge is the most powerful tool in the game. I will recommend Scott Lee for lessons ,and sit at the computer with Dr. Dave and learn 750.shots)
