Will more streaming bring out more players? As more and more of the smaller tournaments start streaming their matches will that be enough encouragement for more players to show up and try to get there 15 minutes of fame so to speak? Play a local tourney and end up being seen all over the world. What do you guys think?

IMO players that have computers are still a small group.

When you go to a pool room, do you want to watch another room's streaming video?

Most pool rooms don't even have INTERNET access.

without the high speed INTERNET access, streaming video will only be just a little bit better then Beta VCRs.

Streaming will bring out more players if there'e money in it.

I don't know about that one stat I saw showed 246 million internet users in north america, thats gotta include a lot of pool players.

When you go to a pool room, do you want to watch another room's streaming video?
And I wasn't asking about watching it when you are actually in the pool room, you're already there why watch a bunch of average players when you can be playing. I was just asking if anyone thought that the trend of pool rooms that streamed some tourneys would increase and as a side effect if it would bring a few more players to the local stuff ( every player helps)

True and maybe never will

"Sure" live streaming will bring out more players!

Any thing that has more and more "Air Time" will get more followers, and this is what pool needs at this time to grow.

This "Live Streaming" is going to "Evolve" into something "Really Big" for pool!

you watch n see!

I doubt it very seriously. A whole bunch of players would rather not be streamed. And why would it help? Promoting people watching isn't necessarily good for the game. Promoting people playing is. I am not trying to damn it, I just don't think that streaming any level other than pro does any good. I would rather people go to a pool room to see B's-D's in action.

I highly doubt it.

One thing I will point out is how good streaming video has become. Any time I'd hear of streaming on AccuStats I didn't bother because I expected time lapse buffer streaming. One day I was bored so I figured that I would check out the site and I was impressed.

well i can only speak of my experience, i used to play alot of pool when i was young, then i got a job and pool always was last thing i "had time to do" then i started watching all kinds of live streaming from c and d's playing to 3 cusion billiards, all i want to do now is to get to a pool table as much as i can, so basically it gave me the itch to play again and i feel that as streaming gets better and better more people will gain that itch or at least im hoping as pool needs something to get it goin around my area

Welcome to az and welcome back to pool. :groucho:

This is what streaming can do. Streaming can bring more people and consequently more $$$ to pool and the added $$$ will dammed sure bring more top players out, which will bring more people and $$$ to pool... and that will bring out more.... you get the picture.

after not playing for 30+ yrs...i wandered in to a pool room in largo fl. and watched two guys playing straight pool...one was Pat Howey and the other was the room owner casey......i moved to wilmington nc soon after and now play 3 times a wk....thanks Pat..hope you are feeling well...you inspired me to try to get some of my game back.....

It is for the reason that you stated that I put so much time, energy and $$$ into live streaming. It is not the only reason that I do what I do, but it is at the top of the list.

Again, thank you for making what I and an increasing number of others do a success.

Steve

btw we will be back up and streaming in a couple of hours. Hope to see you there!

I think the streaming is great for all of the events. It also will bring in advertising dollars from sponsors of the events. They will in turn receive the exposure they are looking for and hopefully gain with products that they sell.
Great job by everyone that is doing the live streaming and keep up the good work.
