Will this figure hold up once finished?

Hi everyone,

Looking for some insight on how to check if this figure will show up in a cue once finished. It was sold as curly Gaboon Ebony. I’m not a cuemaker, and don’t have any finish to try a swatch on. I will send this to a cuemaker, but my design would change if it’s got figuring once finished, or if it’s just gonna be plain black ebony.

Thanks for any expertise or experience you guys can share!

You already know how to find out. A trip to home depot and a few dollars for the smallest can of gloss finish you can find will give you the answer that we can only guess at..
But more of a concern is if that hairline crack goes deep or not.

I would turn that blank round before getting my hopes up. As Chris mentioned, that crack looks suspicious.. If that's gaboon, it looks very light in colour compared to what I'm used to
