Hey guys I have a couple of different opinions about what joint is on this Willie hoppe cue. I believe it's 5/16 x 14 piloted joint? Or is it 6/16 x 18 piloted? Any help would be greatly appreciated also does anyone know of a shaft that will screw right into this? Thanks pics attached

I have a late '40s WHP, first label/second signature, and it has a 5/16 - 14 pin, I am reluctant to opine beyond that . . . but if I were forced to bet, I'd say yours is too.

I obtained my second shaft by buying a cheap (bottom rung) Brunswick cue, circa early '60s, and throwing the butt away, The black rings matched, and the hardware mated up fine, The second shaft's diameter is thicker, 13.5 mm, which is much more to my liking than the original's 12.2 mm.

I’ve had a few Hoppes and Rambows over the years….pretty sure they were all 5/8 by 14
edit….I called the Greek….5/16 by 14

Biloxi has no pool halls. D'Iberville has a Bumpers that I rarely visit. Only real pool hall on Miss Gulf Coast is the old Jim Bobs, now Susie Qs.

I'm pretty sure all the brunswick hoppe before the 70s, had 5/16x14 pin thread.
Unless thay had been worked on. These cues are known for the pin coming loose.
Paticularly the brunswick masterstroke, which had the same pin.

Ok thanks. I attached a pic of the decal which from what I read was used from about 1960 until the end of the Willie Hoppe production early in the 1970s.

So to sum all this up I will be looking for a shalf that is 5/16 X 14 ( piolet ) ?

also how much is this cue worth? I don't think very much so I was just going to do a conversion on it. Thoughts? 🤔

Whats a piolet?

I've got several, both early and later models. They all have the same pin though varying lengths. Yours appears to be a later model based on the veneer color and the lack of the hoppe ring and I'm guessing has or had a black label.
