Check out this cue case on e-bay. Listed as 0687:Mosconi, Willie - Custom Cue Case and Signed Eight. Seller claims this thing is from 1930's. I say no way possible. Take a look and tell me what you think.

Well, it looks like the Brunswick logo commonly seen in the 1960's and 1970's. Pizza Bob should be able to give you some dates they used this logo.

Otherwise, the signature, etc. looks real but it looks more like a souvenier than something Wilie would have actually used. He signed a lot of stuff when he was ill.

If the date information is wrong, it makes you wonder about what else they didn't bother checking.

IMHO Just one of those products that Willie endorsed and not his case .. He endorsed virtually all there is in the billiards world (chalks..etc)...

Chris is right about the logo and signature. I really can't comment on the authenticity - or lack thereof - of the case. I will say that I have never seen a Brunswick case configured like this one. The top of the line case from Brunswick of this era was a semi-hard, full butterfly case with vinyl-coated metal clips to hold the cue pieces. The Brunswick logo and other lettering on this case look like transfer type lettering, which doesn't make this not authentic. It could have been Willie's existing case and he/they added the logo and lettering.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

I am kind of interested in the case. Loking at it, it is pretty heavy duty. the logo and inscription were probably silk screened on.

I just sent them this question:

The Brunswick logo is from the 1960's or 1970's, not the 1930's. Was this case actually used by Mosconi or was it a souvenier item? What year was it made? Is it all original?

Let's hope they can accurately answer it.

here's the answer I got when I told them about the date discrepancy:

"Mosconi's widow obviously got the date wrong. We don't know if he used the case or not, but it belonged to him and comes with a letter from Flora Mosconi."

OK - so the case was an item made for him by Brunswick in the 1970's and given to him, as evidenced by the letter, and the ball is signed by Willie Mosconi.

That's it.
