Willie Mosconi's well traveled multi-use case

Morgan set complete...
Silver Member
This came from the auction a few years ago, and it was a case Willie used for traveling. It fit multiple cues and balls for his travels...

Same tooling as the Hustler case, from the movie.

great piece of history....thanks joe and mark for always showing us the cool stuff yall find...

Joe, this is an incredible piece of history. When I watched Willie in the early 80s in those legends tournaments (82-Harrahs, 83-Claridge, both Atlantic City), he carried his Balabushka in one of his Palmer cases. I suspect he had this case in backup all the time, with other shafts, just in case he needed it.

Footnote for the history buffs. There was an 84 tournament also. It was Lake Kiamiesha, NY. Willie did not play, due to an operation on his ear. But he was there, watching. I suspect he had his cue with him, probably in the Palmer case, but I also suspect he had this case with him as well.

Great post.

Great Old Case

This is a great example for all case makers to take note about use of thread to secure handles, etc. The leather has held up nicely but thread is always the first thing to fail. Thread looks great when new but falls short on long time durability.

Thanks for the photos Joe,

I have seen this case and being someone who holds Mosconi in high esteem, it was more than interesting to see it close-up.

Thank you Joe for sharing this genuine piece of billiard history.
