Good to see these two make it out of this super tough group:

Robert MCKENNA
John WIMS
Shane VAN BOENING
Thorsten HOHMANN
Michael VIDAS

knocking out Vidas and SVB, but what's their reward.....

Group 48
Orcollo, Dennis
Alcano, Ronato
San Souci, George
Deuel, Corey
Wims, John
Valle, Gandy

Group 49
Archer, Johnny
Daulton, Shannon
McKenna, Robert
Immonen, Mika
O'Sullivan, Ronnie
Storm, Tom

Wimms group looks unbelievable!

yup... WIMS group is toughest in this round....

my picks
ORCOLLO, ALCANO and DEUEL

ARCHER, IMMONEN, DAULTON ... (Ronnie O, might be a surprise)

My .02 cents

Ronnie O. might be super at potting, but I believe he will learn the difference between Pool and Snooker strategy today.

Ronnie is well known for is excellent tactical brain but I'm sure he still has a bit to learn in 8 ball. Personally I think his break will be his downfall before tactics come into play.

Those two groups are insanely hard, and I agree on the fact that O'Sullivans poor break will get him knocked out. Tactics and shotmaking he can handle i think.

Could a poor break be an advantage since it sounds like everybody is having trouble sinking a ball on the break? (Based on reports and fairly low B&R numbers)

If I'm not going to sink a ball I would rather leave a few clusters than spread the balls well.

I think that is a tactic if your break is really struggling depending on you're playing. However I certainly wouldn't call it an advantage, at this level the best breakers will advance no question.

I was suprised how many games Ronnie won overall, I still think he's capable of an upset expecially on the TV tables and if the pockets tighten up

It is my prediction that this tournament will be decided by break and runs. Basically it's going to come down to who can put many, many games without answer on their opponents.

Regarding Ronnie and the break. He should get a little help via the Fury Jump Break (with a 100% leather tip) cue we Fedexed to him. He should have it in time for today's matches.

What is the tiebreaker for advancing?

2-2 49.21% Robert MCKENNA
2-2 43.94% John WIMS
2-2 45.83% Michael VIDAS

What is the tiebreaker for advancing?

Thorsten H moves on with a 3-1 record,
Shane VB out with a 1-3 (47.06%).

Why didn't Vidas advance?

His % was worse, I imagine its changed now that wimms lost? Wimms and Mckenna def had better win % before

If the percentages are being updated in the closed out rounds, that would explain it, Thanks Craig!

Wims lost his first match of the next round to Ronato Alcano 3-8

He's gonna get BBQed.

Ronnie just got beat fairly soundly by Archer, but to be fair Archer opened with a four pack and has been beating everybody he faces. I think for Ronnie O to advance he will have to beat Storm and Mckenna, I don't think he will be able to beat Mika the way he is hitting them. Reguardless of what happens with him, he is going to have to improve his break if he plans on going deep into an IPT tournament in the future.
