Winner Plays Mike Sigel

I think we all know that she had no real chance of winning. This is quite the lame fix for Sigel to get another decent payday and while I still hold a ton of hope for the IPT and love the fact it is here I think they should have thought ALOT harder about their first two events and tried harder not to make them look like a fix. It is a very poor way to introduce a pool tour.

Maybe for you it is. However for the public at large it is probably a great way to introduce a pool tour. I am sure that in post production the "battle of the sexes" and the girls getting a real shot against the men on equal footing will be hyped up signifigantly. I am equally sure that you would have seen someone with a higher gear than Loree displayed as Mike's challenge opponent had the WPBA not had all of their players locked into the contract they do.

But, simply as a spectator, Loree Jon Jones is incredibly attractive and I am sure that she will come off as a great opponent when the show airs.

Oh man-Are you kidding me???

24 guys are eliminated before the old timers even play???????? Then the old timers outnumber the young guns 2-1 in each group

Just as i had said- Sigel in one of his interviews said the old timers would dominate and he is doing everything he can to make that happen but who in the hell would ever have the nerve to slant it this much?? I thought just having them in the tournament was going to be their spot. This is just way over the top.

Why doesnt Kevin just send those guys a check or start a pension fund or something and let's have a real competition.

Ok that is just too much for me- Unless this is the only tournament with this kind of bogus crap and all the rest are real competitions then im no longer even wishing them well.

Oh PLEASE. This is Kevin and Mike's sandbox. If it weren't for the Hall of Famers in this then you wouldn't even be talking about this. Grow some respect for God's sake. These guys have PAID THEIR DUES and it shows tremendous heart for Kevin and Mike to give them an opportunity to start near the top and make everyone else have to get past them.

Why should the young guns care? If they are so good then it ought to be no problem to dust off the old dudes. Pool has ALREADY proven that the regular way doesn't work. Isn't it SAD that today's group of players is not making any more money than in the 90's, the 80's and the 70's? Yet the cost of living has increased substantially in that time.

I once overheard Tommy Kennedy GOING OFF with expletives and all because he placed 17th out of over 200 in the US Open and got like $1200. That's barely breaking even after a week in Chesapeake. That's real incentive to be a pool professional. So now he has a chance to earn FIVE TIMES what the US Open pays, nearly 20 times for the same placement and all he has to put up is some seeded slots for HALL OF FAME players? If Tommy ain't complaining then why should you.

I want to see good pool. If Buddy Hall gives it to me then that's cool. If he beat Thorsten Hohmann to get there then I know he deserves to be there. And personally, I would love to see some of MY pool idols get the chance to earn to real dough.

if they really want to have a decent name on the pool world, IPT should've organized a big tourney with a field of at least 96 or 128 players with the champion being the "king of the hill" instead of an exhibition match between Mike and Loree Jon. if that was the format in the first tourney, then MAYBE there will be no or less negative thoughts about the IPT.

The "pool world" doesn't pay the bills. But, as far as that goes, the IPT has a decent name in my "pool world" already. There is money on the table. The players are selected and everyone has a shot at it. Girls aren't discriminated against. To me this is fantastic. If it flops then it's no worse than all the other "pie in the sky" tournaments and tours there were. But, if it goes, then be prepared to see pool EVERYWHERE and pool players becoming media stars.

everyone has a chance alright. but not everyone is "treated" equal.

I've posted elsewhere that I don't agree with the tourny format, but it's good to see the "old guard" gettin paid!

Of course KT and Mike are all chummy and worked it all out in advance, but when he's frontin the bucks, it's his say as to where it goes i guess?

I get the feeling KT is as star struck as I would be hanging with Mike. I might pay a grand for lessons with Mike, maybe KT set it up where Mike gets a million?:)....G

8 Ball does not require nerves of steel

how old are you? haven't you ever heard respect your elders:D anyway the following tournaments the young guns should watch out, the old timers still have some gas in the engine.

Hi Linda,
congratulations to u for being invited to be a member of IPT.
8 Ball does not require the nerves of steel or the stroke or the eye sight of young blood. If u break the rack hard it becomes the easiest of the pool games. If u go for defensive break( like a break in the snooker game) it becomes a much tougher game.Older guys should be able to play like anybody else.

Slimshafty is a member of the IPT??

I see it all the time. Pool is such a small community. People arguing in favor of something, acting as though they are being objective, influencing others and all along they have some $$ vested interest in that which they are arguing for. I have also seen it where they argue against because they are a competitor of the entity being debated.

Let's have disclosure on this board.

If you are a player who has been selected, the wife, husband GF or BF of a player who has been selected or a Sponsor or Supplier to the tour, wife, boyfriend etc let's hear it. Conversely if you havent been selected or you product wont be used or you are on the Board of the WPA, let us know. In short any vested interest in seeing them succeed or fall should be disclosed.
(Not that anyone not selected would logically want to see the IPT fail, that would be so low-You know what im saying i hope).

I have no $$ riding on or against the IPT.

PS- I don't mean you JAM, you have been posting your Ops since way before Keith was selected.

TAP TAP TAP and well said! These guys have sacrificed more than anyone for pool and it's about time those efforts were recognised!

Are we going to have ...

Vcash bets on the 'King of the Hill' tournament? I hope so...

It's a nice relief effort but a lousy tournament IMHO

And by the way it it's quite easy to argue that it is todays players that have sacrificed more. Everyone points out that the purses today are the same as they were in the 70's. Well if that is true than those playing in the 70's were making at least 3-4 times that of todays pros in terms of 'real money'

Well I for one have no qualms about the tournament format or the favoring of the HOF players. Didn't the world straight pool championship at times have a similar format with a preliminary playoff to determine which one player would challenge the reigning champ? Chess has been conducted that way for a long time. Of course Sigel was chosen and is on on the ground floor for partly personal reasons, but if you're gonna choose someone to be King of the Hill at the outset I can't think of a player more deserving in terms of lifetime accomplishments.

Someone mentioned the argument that the current players have actually sacrificed more than the former champions because the money back then was worth more than the same amounts today. But, the difference is, the top players of today are still in their prime, while the champions of yesteryear never had the chance to play for this kind of dough. Would everyone complain if we had a tournament that was exclusively for the HOF'ers? I doubt it, though interest might wane a bit. This is something of a compromise, favoring the HOF'ers, and especially Sigel, in the early stages of the IPT's development.

The young guns and current champs will rise to the top eventually, so I say why not let the legends who never had this kind of opportunity while still in their prime get a foot in the door and a shot at some serious prize money for now?

Ahhh, the last time I checked I was not a member of the IPT, I did not even apply and I'm far from being able to compete with those selected, sure would be nice though, and if I ever did get selected I would be shouting it from the rooftop:D....and I'm not Linda either, have you meet many women named Slim?...lol by the way Linda Carter post under rackmsuckr and you can see how I congratulated her in a thread on the main forum BREAKING NEWS: IPT Announces 150 Players.

I have been pushing the IPT and I'm a firm believer in the tour since I heard rumblings about it very early on, I am not a personal friend of Mike or Kevin, I have talked to them in the past but they wouldn't remember me or know me by name at all.

I am from the business world, but so far have not been involved in any pool or billiard enterprises or investments, this may change, as I see some opportunities that should arise from the success of this tour but as of now I have 0 vested interest in the pool and billiard world. I have no money riding on it's success except for my life long love for the sport and my utter dismay at the way the "ruling bodies" have handled the progression and promotion of Pro pool.

put up your money; put on your own show....

Not that Mr.Trudeau cares what anyone says is fair or right or wrong with his "promotion" of the IPT thus far; It's amusing to read all these posts from people saying what is wrong with the IPT, its format, its slantedness toward Mike Sigel, the HOF'ers, etc. Hey, it's his money......he can do it whatever way he wants.....if you don't like it the way it is, you put up your money and do it the way YOU want.....I don't like the way gambling casinoes always give themselves the edge either....I wish they would make things more fair so I could win money all the time..........LOL.........

Sorry i was a bit mislead (like totally)

I was going to say Slimshafty is a chick??? Then i thought it would be real insulting and taken wrong.

Vagabond often has the inside info so i bought it.

Wait til i get hold of him in Albuquerque.

Anyway what i said still goes just not for you.

Sorry once more.

Ok no problem-Slimshafty was a gentleman about it and nobody else got upset. You never know whats going to happen on these boards. When you post something innocuous, sometimes you still get hammered and then you post something that's out of line and you skate. Go figure.
