Winning One Pocket

What is so great about the Eddie Robin books that they bring hundreds of dollars?

The books have been out of print for 20 years, that in itself makes them scarce and raises the price. Winning One Pocket is an excellent instructional book for budding 1P players.

Shots, Moves & Strategies is somewhat cheaper than W.O.P. as it shows many fantastic shots from players and games gone by but it is not really a teaching book. S,M,&S has many great stories in it and even has 3 or 4 pics of SJD:smile:.

Eddie was so disappointed in W.O.P. 1st edition due to conversion of computer files when the manuscript was typeset that he set about writing a 2nd edition of W.O.P.. The 1st edition came with 3 "errata sheets" explaining and defining the "errors" in it. They were mostly not noticed by many but Eddie is a perfectionist and so W.O.P. 2nd edition was born.

There are actually many more "errata" sheets than the 3 ( I think I have 18) but they just point out small errors like name spelling, fractions in pocket sizes and other things most of us would not notice.

There are actually 4 Eddie Robin books;

1. Winning One Pocket (1st edition, 281 pages).

2. Winning One Pocket (2nd edition, 289 pages)

3. Shots, Moves & Strategies

4. Position Play In Three Cushion Billiards (Situations are presented in English, Spanish & Chinese).

Anyone who has an opportunity to purchase a W.O.P. (1st or 2nd edition) for $300 or less should do it and never look back. I have 4 of them and one day I may sell them but they will be at least $300.

Eddie does sell S,M&S on E-Bay every now & then and if you are in the market you may get one for $160 or so. Eddie is an extremely knowledgeable writer and he's also a very nice person. A phone call with Eddie is never wasted.

WOP and SM&S are the best books out there on 1pocket. Nothing else in print comes close.
