Womens pool

That is my point exactly, some of the top women are every bit as good as the men, it would be interesting to hear from some women players as to how they feel about this applause all the time. it shouldn't be right that they applaude a simple shot just because they are women and they made the shot. You don't hear that in the mens game.

Stop it.

On the applause thing, it is true that applause is encouraged by the TV producers...during the crowd warmup. This from personal experience, a trip made to Lincoln City Oregon to watch Allison, Karen, and the girls play.

They are VERY good, IMO.

Well I've never been to a big tournament... or to a tournament at all actually. And no, I don't get around much sadly... I mainly play at my pool hall cus I get free pool from Sun-Thur.

I'm still fairly new to the game (year and a half or so) but I hope soon to play in a real league and hit up more and more tournaments.

Uhuh. If you start going to other pool halls, there's a big chance that you might meet a hardcore female player. my first experience with a hardcore female player was B ranked, that was ages ago, 7 years IIRC. I had heard that she garnered a second place finish in a tourney. she got a nice soft stroke and banks extremely well. truthfully speaking, she was the one who motivated me to bank more often since I was used to do some extremely difficult cut shots which most often than not, lose the CB. because of that woman, my banking skills have improved dramatically. and for that, I gave her credit. she didn't taught me though, I just studied her style to my advantage. there are a lot of things you can learn from these type of female players. because they are women doesn't make them 2nd class. always remember that without them, MANKIND is doomed ! :D

Last night, I watched Jennifer Baretta shoot some pretty solid pool in the Texas Holdem matches. She made some real nice outs, that I think only the very top tier of women players could make. Her game has really come up, and whoever is coaching her is doing a good job. And it doesn't hurt that she is attractive and in good shape.

There were several times I thought she would miss on some shots, but she didn't (rail first shots, long banks, difficult cuts), and I had to readjust my perspective about her competitiveness. I was impressed.

How come European and Japanese and Filapino audience matches always seem more exciting than ours? Because they show their enthusiasm more than USA audience matches. Listen to the Japanese commentators some time ... LOL ;)

just love those japanese commentators, most especially on their exaggerated awe that seems to rival that of football commentators when somebody scores a goal. it's simply puts the audience right into the game.
