Wondering Why Corey Deuel, Mika, etc. Play so Good?

Here is a link to a video of Corey and Mika playing wearing headcams. It gives you a view like you are down shooting the shot. This is very innovative: http://www.ppvportal.com/worldpool/home.asp

If you are wondering why these guys play so good, aside from having a ton of heart, experience, and intelligence, just watch their strokes. Look at Corey's, for example. His stroke is absoloutely perfect. It's dead straight, goes thru the cueball like the cueball doesn't even exist, and there is no flinching of the stroke, i.e. making the cue take a nose dive in the middle of the stroke. There is no movement of the tip when he is at the cueball, it is perfectly steady. This is what separates us from them. When you have a stroke this straight, the game becomes fairly simple. You would be amazed at how well you can shoot with a perfect stroke like this. When you achieve that stroke, the game becomes all mental, and the only physical part left is endurance.

Anyways, this is well worth the couple dollars to download the full match, COMPARE your stroke against theirs and you will see a huge difference, unless you play as good as them ;)

That was filmed as a trial run to see if the wireless head cam worked. It did and we plan on upgrading the camera to one that is top of the line and having Corey play in an actual tournament with one on. He will also be doing some instructional videos along with some of the other top players. amc4

My aiming system...

After reading your post, I cannot help but ask, what is your aiming system that pockets balls, banks, caroms, combinations.?

My aiming system is my eyes, my experience, and my brain ... I don't use
a 'named' aiming system. I look at contact points on the object balls where
they need to be hit, line them up (for a combo), make sure I have an exact
small contact point, focus on the contact point, and stroke it.

You know, that's kind of like all the different exercises that are popular,
and the new equipment. They can have fancy names, but it is the same
stuff they were doing 20-30-40 years ago by another name. Most of
exercises raving about how good they work were the same ones advocated
by Charles Atlas and Joe Weider. Just because something is new, doesn't
mean it is better.

An accurate and consistent aiming system that aligns cue ball to object ball to pocket is the critical ingredient.

If I pay the 4 easy installments of $19.99, will you teach me about your aiming system? oh does that include the clearcoat sealant and the rust proof treatment for my cues paintjob and joint?

thanks a lot man

Ya know ...

I meant one of the new type 'named' aiming system. Do you know the definition of 'system' bonehead. You are really starting to get on my
nerves, MF.

Must be PMS time at azbilliards.

Those posts of sonia's kind of remind me of that IMMSHARMA guy that would come around and post some pseudo-mystical crap and try to sell it. Maybe he got a sex change. Except sonia's are a little more obsessive compulsive.

They have good strokes for potting balls but their strokes are very rigid and lack the fluid motion that I think defines a good stroke. I would say Earl has a far better stroke then either Karen or Allison. Mechanical strokes such as Karen and Allison use can only do so much, they have peaked at the highest level you can go with their strokes and god forbid when they need to power a ball with alot of spin. Allison and Karen both play with little feel, the complete opposite to the Philipino players that are so dominant. Compare Steve Davis playing 9-ball to the people with true 9-ball power strokes and you see where Davis falls behind. Best stroke in pool is Ronnie O'Sullivan who actually plays snooker like it is 9-ball, he is the only guy I have ever seen play that game with a power stroke and he is dominant doing it, I think he is a mutant.

This is so funny - to say that Steve Davis doesn't have a power stroke is like saying Michael Jordan can't dunk. I watched the guy play for 10 years and I've never seen a better stroke - the only difference is that he didn't use the big power shots as often as guys like White, Ebdon and O'Sullivan - but it was mostly because he didn't have to, not because he couldn't.

Besides, to be a successful tournament player in today's nine ball, how much of a power stroke do you really need? Don't forget that they play on tables with brand new Simonis cloth and pockets the size of New Hampshire - a far cry from days of yesteryear and the 'fur' cloth where you needed to full stroke just about every shot. Even the break shot is moving towards a softer speed because of the type of equipment used. Power is passe.
