Couple pics for the "woodchucks"....I just got these back from the "LAB" down in Iowa.... Pics don't really show the true depth and color of this stuff. Truly Amazing burl. Not for Sale - Just for Fun.

Larry that stuff looks really nice.

Thanks Frank... I appreciate it. Took me quite awhile to find pieces this long that would work for double dyeing. The stuff is probably not everyone's cup of tea, and is anything but traditional.

Everything I get is either hand picked or harvested by me. Everyone likes Amboyna, DIWB and HRB, but I like the rare and unusual stuff... Especially burls that you don't see very often or have weird grain patterns. :grin-square:

That stuff is unbelievable, what kind of burl is that?

Its double dyed box elder burl.....Dyed twice, black / red then stabilized, because it's quite soft. Box elder takes dye really well and the colors don't get as muted as with other species. For instance, a lot of the times when maple burl is dyed red, the color appears to be a pinkish color... Mileage varies on this, and who is doing it.

Thanks for looking.... here's another pic of more of it with some that was dyed black as well.

Wow again! I have seen box elder burl before but I definetly don't remember it looking that good. The black looks awesome too, I would love to see some cues from those.
